Can anyone suggest campgrounds where you can ride bikes and on relative flat ground. We were at a campsite in Charleston SC a couple of years back and the biking was excellent. Forgot the name of the place but it is a public owned park and hard to get reservations for. Also, we are interested in beach riding but have found St. Augustine is the best for that so far. Many other beaches are not hard enough. I am talking about fat tire bikes, NOT mountain bikes.
Thanks for any recommendations. Oh, I am talking mainly about SC, GA, AL, MS, TX or FL.

My wife and I go from one Rails-to-Trails bike trail to another and camp nearby. There are some books that summarize the locations and descriptions of those trails. They used to be railroad paths so they are always relatively level and straight. Often there are towns spaced five or 10 miles apart which are good places to have lunch prior to the return trip.

Fort Wilderness at Disney. You can bike all over the campground (it's huge) and even go over to the Wilderness Lodge on a trail through the woods.

If it's listed in the Yellow Pages, the government shouldn't be messing around with it.

Not one of your mentioned states but nearby. Fountainebleau State Park in Mandeville La. is on a rails to trail bicycle trail.

A friend tells me that FDR State Park in Georgia is great for riding bikes. Says her daughter did it on her little two wheeler when she was 6 or 7(she's 19 now)

Scusset Beach and Bourne Scenic Park are both right on the Cape Cod Canal bike trail if you are visiting Ma.
See you on the road!

We just got back from Hickory Run State Park in White Haven PA (I know that it isn't one of your requested states). There is a rails to trails run from White Haven to Jim Thorpe PA, it is in the Lehigh Gorge State Park. My son and I did it last Tuesday, 26 miles all "downhill" (2% grade) on crush and run with only one road crossing. We did it for free because my wife didn't want to ride it this time, she dropped us off at the top and picked us up at the bottom. But there are a few companies in the area that will haul you to the top for a fee.
It is a beautiful ride and is a very easy one to do. I would like to do it again when the leaves have changed. If you make it that far north I would
highly recommend the trail.
