We made the climb EARLY in the A.M. when it was relatively cool, had no problem.
We camped in Troy overflow, great area, lots of trees. A friend went up on a Wed. and snagged a spot with an old home slab/fireplace. Made for a great place for the campfire and there were trees all around, so thick my XM lost its signal.

Thats an UNDERSTATEMENT !!
Now if they just had a golf course up there

We made the trip in the early evening, 115* in Pearsonville !!
The Gasser Chebby made it OK, tranny was on the warm side from the climb but nothing broke. Take your time up and down the grades, everything will be OK
I made My 1st trip way back in the mid seventies, it was a dirt/gravel road back then.
Our club (SGVMC) had a play weekend up there.
Heads up, the road to KM is two lane except for a 200yd stretch that is only one lane with a blind curve. Mountain on one side, burm with a 700ft drop on the other side.

2 lane road is a streach, but very doable.
When You get to the narrow section, slow down and honk the horn, listen if anyone honks back before you proceed.
