Hookie, I hear you on the time and cost issues. I have a couple of things on my new trailer that need to be fixed, and would be covered under warranty but they aren't worth the time and cost to take it to the dealer. So I have opted to fix them myself.
I would suggest that you get a automotive circuit braker rather than a fuse. I like brakers better as when they cool down they reset themselves. I would run a new heavy gague wire from the battery + to the braker and from the output side of the braker to the jack. I would not disturbe CW's work, just in case you do need to take it back to them. By powering it on a new run with their wire disconnected than you will be able to see if there is an issue with the jack it self. You may also want to look to be sure that the paint around the base of the jack at the coupler has the paint removed to provide a good ground.

If you have a ultra fab call the company. Tell them what it did and how to fix it. They might replace the unit or tell you the wire gauge and fuse you need. My jack broke and I called them up and had a new one in three days. I switched the jacks and called them again. UPS came and picked up the old one.

In this case FREE of CHARGE isn't at all free.....
Arrange for repair, Drive to storage, hook up trailer, hook up tow bars (probably), drive to Camper World (at 8mpg as he just stated), wait for it to be fixed etc.
My time is worth more that this. I'm sure his is as well. Especially when most likely a 30 amp inline fuse (w/12GA wire) is only $3 at Radio Shack, and the splice only takes about 5 minutes going slow. Fix it yourself and you'll know its done right.
Then call up Camper World and complain to them, and see if they give you a gift card or credit or something out of the deal.
It can't hurt,
Steve
P.S. If the jack is bad, call CW or maker, and see what they are going to do to resolve the issue.

One thing that's sure to cause a fuse to blow is to reverse the motor without letting it come to a complete stop for a second.

mikhen wrote: You didn't state the make, but I'd bet it's an Ultra 3500 or 3502. A year or so ago, some of their units were shipped with undersized and defective fuse holders. Simply have that replaced and it should work great.
I must of had one of those bad ones. I sent an email to ultra and within a week I had replacement parts in hand free of charge, great company to deal with. It was a very easy fix. However, CW does need to either 1) fix your problem or 2) be informed of your dissatisfaction. Good luck and happy camping.

Just be glad you paid the $71....had you installed it yourself, you would have been out of luck....now at least you can blame someone else.

I have had a problem with Ultr Fab. 3500. No melting wires. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I installed it. I tried ground check as mentioned on there web site and that did not solve problem. I think my problem maybe in fuse holder. I emailed them yesterday and got a call from service rep @ noon today. They are sending me a new fuse holder, fuse and switch @ no cost. Hope this will solve problem. At least they offered prompt service.
