Hello Everyone,
This past weekend I shamefully plagiarized He Ruide's He Ruide's gray water drainage system.. I'll have to snap some pictures and post them.
Here's the trouble. After I purchased and cut all the pieces required and dry fit everything, I realized I did not have enough vertical clearance for the standard size portable gray water tank. I have a standard pop-up, not a toy-hauler with extra clearance. Therefore I only have about 8.5" of clearance between the ground and the bottom of the "tee" where the shower drain pipe and the sink drain pipe meet, see diagram..

Now I've found a Tote-Along that should me my needs, 15 Gallon Low Silhouette Tent Camper TOTE-ALONG. We're going camping this coming weekend (June 28th to July 5th), but I can't find a store that has them in-stock and won't charge me a small fortune to ship the Tote-Along.
Does anyone have any ideas that will work with this setup for the short term? I plan on purchasing the 15 gallon low silhouette Tote but it just won't arrive in time for our trip. The KOA we're camping at for our trip does not allow you to drain your gray water onto your campsite.
Many thanks,
-Mike

Get a campsite with a slope and use a flexible hose with whatever container you want.

Do you have any friends that have a tote you can barrow till yours arrives? Or you can use something like a Cat litter box, Oil drain Pan to catch the water then dump it into a Different container. This would be a pain in the ****, but would work for one trip.

You could pull the campers wheels (both sides evenly) up onto ramped blocks or levelers to raise the trailer enough to get you present tote under there or with enough of a grade to allow your lines to drain into it.??
I wish when we had a pop up i had seen his post and set up, it would have saved me some trouble.

Mike, I feel personally responsible for your situation so I'll offer two solutions.
First as "Thatguy 1967" suggested if the CG site has a decent slope away from where you are camping you could add a sump pump hose and drain your waste water into an aquatainer.
If that is not an option you could get a Blitz 15 Quart Draintainer from an autoparts store which should be short enough to fit under your drain. Of course this would still mean using one or two aquatainers to store waste water as this use oil container stores a little less than 4 gallons.
Hope these short term fixes helps you out.

Turn your tee 90 degrees so the side outlet is facing up. Then adapt the horizontal outlet so that a garden hose will run horizontal and to the tote. As long as the trailer floor is higher than the connection to the tote and the tote has an open vent the water should run into it.

My thought too.
And I'd like to suggest adding a tee at the top of your sink drain instead of a 90. Then add a short nipple to create an air chamber. This helps water flow so you don't get the glug-glug as the water drains.

Mike,
On my way to work I thought of another short term solution... I had to think outside of the box or in this case outside of the pipe.
If like my design you used screw type connectors then disconnect the "T" from the pipe that runs under the PUP and drain both sink and shower directly into their own aquatainers.

Ruide,
First off, you should feel no responsibility, in fact your ingenuity should be praised!
On my first trip to HomeDepot & Lowes, I did not find any of the screw type connectors, only the standard 1.5" PVC (some with threads). I had to use a piece called a union to connect to my shower and sink drains. On my second trip (to purchase caps and so forth) I saw the section at Lowes, on the next isle over, with all the pipe fittings for sink drains, etc. While my set up is heavier (not that happy about that) I was a bit cheaper.
I did however design the setup to be modular in that I did not want to drive with the pipes in place, given my lower ground clearance. So for this trip, I think I will try 2 different catches (one for each drain).

I need to post some pictures, but yes I have “tee” at the sink drain instead of 90º, however I could not do the same with the shower drain as the outlet is right under the floor (I guess I could have but didn’t think the marginal flow from the shower drain would require it).

That is a really good idea and should give me a couple extra inches of clearance.

P.S. – I’m still looking for a decent price for shipping on the tank…wish me luck)!
