The Potato is the only "Single" food that would sustain life long term if the island had nothing else to offer to eat........So, I will choose french fries with sea salt

I never would have guess this, but when I was in Antarctica and deprived of fresh food for nearly three months, I developed a craving for mashed potatoes. The light at the end of the tunnel for me was a mental image of a heaping portion with a dollop of real butter melting all down the sides, a little salt and pepper. And upon my return to New Zealand, my very first restaurant meal was just that, nothing else, just a big plate full of mashed potatoes. The waiter was very understanding; he'd seen others returning from the ice with their own cravings. That was nearly 50 years ago and it still comes to mind when I have my potatoes mashed.

Noticing it did not take long for ice cream, Beer and Scotch to make the list. LOL
MaineTom....Wow, that is quite a story and must have been quite a craving after 3 months! Bet those first mashed potatoes tasted out of this world.

Grilled Cheese sandwiches. I love them! Traditional white bread buttered and two slices of that good yellow cheese slices!

I sure hope that I'm on the same deserted island with all of you! Have a great pot luck going here!
And I would say either steak or potato salad...
