We love to see how everyone decorates their site. We usually take an evening stroll and see how nice everything looks. We usually wind up taking the bug light but try to hang it as far away from everyone as possible. Every time the bug gets zapped, I still think about that commercial with Vincent Price laughing as the bugs go up in smoke!

We use awning lites that my daughter and I made out of the little huggie drinks and a set of C9 christmas lights. I was a neat family project that we made when we first started camping and still use to date. My daughter had fun drinking all of the huugies at one time to get enough to cover each light on the strand. Although there was a bit of a suger rush later that day.

We do put up decorative lights and enjoy seeing all the other campers decorations.

I like to see the other campers lights, too, but please, oh please, make sure you turn them off at quiet time! I can tell that everyone here was not the people parked by us this last weekend. They kept their multitudes of lights on all night long. And don't think it only disturbs the people next to you. A perfectly placed light can shine all night long in a rig rows away. Also, the washer pitch game at midnight isn't a good idea either.

That happened to us! Campers next to us throwing washers at a board with holes in it. Sounded like someone beating on a drum with a soup spoon. Arghhh! That has to be one of the most irritating things to hit the camp ground.

I know this is a silly question, but what is the significance of the pink flamingos? I know there is a story about them, a few years ago a sorority in town was putting them in peoples yards and others were stealing them...lol But I would love to do something like that when camping, if I knew the story behind it

We have our globe lights that we purchased from Camping World. DH installed a dimmer switch so as it gets darker, the lights go dimmer. We always turn them off when we hit the sack.

We love to have multicolored lights around the campsite. I got some Little garden hooks - like a shepherd's hook only they are about 18" high. We put these around the campsite and then laid the lights in the hooks!
Works really well and we get a lot of compliments. Also we have a green rope light which is strung around the outside roof screen tent, and it casts a beautiful green glow inside.
We are always careful to shut them off at night - I would want others to do the same for us.

I think I may have the definitive answer to that question in this article.
It's called
High Tacky: A Flamingo Invasion. The Pink Plastic Lawn Ornaments Have Waded Into American Culture
and you can read the whole thing here (it's too long to post): Plastic Flamingos

This is how we decorate our shower shelter:

Yes, those are outhouses and TP rolls, it don't get much tackier than that.
