I have Nike sneaker lights given to me by a good friend. Won't leave without them.

Now is the time to look for lights on sale. We just found some at Big Lots on the summer clearance section. We paid 2 dollars a strand and got the last three. The can be quite pricey full priced as we need three strands to go across our awning.

I only use the electric globe lites when we camp in a campground.
When we go boondocking I will hang candle lanterns that look like old railway lanterns from the awning from ropes that hang off S-hooks.
I usually burn citranella votives in them.

It's so embarrassing when the FAA shows up and asks you to turn them off because you are confusing the pilots! haha

We just have a string of red, white and blue on the awning. I bought a string each of Red, White and Blue C7 globe Christmas lights and made my own red, white and blue strings.

Keep an eye out around Christmas time for a dusk/dawn plug in timer for Christmas lights and put it in your camper. Lights come on at dark and shut off at predetermined time..2,4,6 hours later. Then you don't have to remember to shut them off. I like the dimmer idea....another reason to stop at Home Depot on the way home.

Now...Christmas lights at home..that's another story. My neighbors call me Clark Griswold!

I got a couple of packages of "awning hooks" at CW (bogo sale). We use them to hang battery powered lanterns near the legs of the awning. We have some rope lights, too but have yet to use them because we have been staying at SPs with no hookups. We mark our site with a spinning wind toy.

Do people leave the awning hooks on the awning and just roll them up or do you take them off each time?

Old Glory and the Jolly Roger:

I've since replaced the "Quad Garage" canopy at the front with a 10'x10' model with rope lights around it.

We like putting up RWB lights around holidays. They are small Christmas tree bulbs and even at night just glow, there is no shine at all. We have seen some very elaborate light schemes and the creativity can be amazing.

The only thing we object to is Wind chimes. They are usually used as a weapon and inflicted on surrounding neighbors. We really like the tubular models that are put out just before a wind storm and then the owners leave for several days so we can all enjoy the "melody". It's a total disregard for other peoples feelings and it's one reason I now carry a small sledge hammer in the back of the truck.

Thats right, vandalism will teach them that they shouldn't enjoy their camping trip. How dare them do something different than all the other lemmings.

I like to keep it tasteful...like tiki gods, pink flamingos, and palm tree lights. I also have an illuminated palm tree but haven't taken it out yet. I picked it up at Lowes after Christmas when all the lights went on sale. I'm not quite sure why they sell the palm trees with the Christmas lights but that's what they do.

For a little variety, try this place. They seem to have lights for every occasion.

I used to use the clips that fit into to the awning rail but I found some small clips I like better. It's a metal clip attached to a vinyl strap that snaps onto itself. They are made to clip ID badges onto clothing but work great for lights. If a storm comes up, you can quickly remove them from the edge of the awning to roll it up. It also works great if you stretch a rope between trees and clip the lights to the rope....keeps the strain off the thin wires.
