I picked it up at Lowes after Christmas when all the lights went on sale. I'm not quite sure why they sell the palm trees with the Christmas lights but that's what they do.

I take it you haven't been down South around Christmas time.

Thanks, Bumpy. That makes sense. Not many up here but I like the idea of no pine sap on the carpet!

Barb bought a couple strings of lights with popsicles on them shortly after we got the camper. I have never seen any like them anywhere else and I don't even remember where she found them at (probably on clearance somewhere

I've seen several posts saying they are "guilty" of putting up lights. Why feel guilty? I admit I don't care for some of the lengths that people go through to decorate and light up thier sites, but I've never seen one that impeded my ability to enjoy camping. Have at it and have fun. One thing I thankfully don't see very often anymore is the bright Coleman white gas lanterns. Now those really annoy me because they light up everything within 2 miles.
We used to use a blue light string, but my wife didn't care for it. We now have a string of ten "lanterns" with white Christmas type bulbs in them. Enough to gently light the area under the awning, not enough to read by. Depending on the proximity of other sites, sometimes we leave them on all night, sometimes we turn them off. The only other thing we sometimes put out is a mutli-layered pinwheel.

My gut feeling to Campfire Time's post and the "is it right/not right" discussion is to say that it spoils it for me to be in nature and see little lit up dolphins hanging around.
However, I'd much rather see those than the gas lanterns belting out lighthouse quantities of light.
My default desire is to boondock. But when that is not possible, I would not deprive someone the pleasure and ability to have chili pepper lights.

We have rubber duckies. A couple of strand of them, enough for the awning. We also have a couple of light ropes we use if we need lighting on the ground ( I stumble easily on uneven ground. That's about it.
I do enjoy seeing all the decorating.

I like the disco scene myself big rotating mirror balls with about a dozen flashing colored spotlights shining all over the place. Strobe lights are really cool bouncing off the trees at night especially if there is a little breeze to move the branches. This year I'm going to put neon all around the bottom of the trailer. When the motorhome crowd fires up their diesel pushers and generators I'm going to fire up the village people at about 5,000 watts. Just kidding of course,I do have a couple of rope light strings and a set of 6 red, white and blue globes on a dimmer switch. I have thought about a train horn for my truck though.

Yesterday, at a garage sale, I bought six small battery operated lights that look like little Coleman lanterns ($5). I can't wait to hang them up next time I am camping. I have some rechargable batteries but had to purchase some Dollar General regular ones.
