Also, we run Delorme and download the low clearances files which helps even though they are incomplete. On some older bridges remember they are normally higher in the middle, if there is an arch to them.

This mapping program works off a laptop, which would be a little cumbersome in a truck, but in the motorhome, it is ideal. It holds a lot more data and we have interet access going down the road and can update files if we have to right then.

That has always been my strategy and I have been doing this for 4 years.

My biggest problem has been in campgrounds where there are some narrow curving drives that make you pay very close attention to your rig. We also hooked a power line at a campground in Greensboro North Carolina. It was the only one that low and ran right across the campsite. The owner was surprised and said that he thought he had checked all the sites. Luckily, we got stopped and there was no harm no foul.

TGR - this is just what I was looking for, I just didn't know where to find it. Just scanning the lists for NJ & PA I've seen some roads that we've used in the past for car trips.
I am going to also look into the GPS/mapping software for planned trips. We just can't assume that our regular route to get somewhere is going to work, especially in the little towns we visit in PA.
Thanks, All!

the units that i design at work are no taller than 102". the standard height of a trailer deck is 55" 55 + 102 = 157 / 12 = 13.08 feet. Any taller than 102" and i have to get special permits. 13' is the safe point.

This is pretty darn interesting. So, what do you say about my Travel Supreme - River Canyon that the manufacturer lists as 13'3"? Your limit seems to be 13'1".
