Besides saving the money I find the beds on my PUP more comfortable. We have 3 inches of memory foam on them and high thread count sheets. We get to sleep in luxury and we know they're clean too!

Congrats on your purchase...love my '95 Utah! There is a thread here somewhere from last week or so all about that pup. It is plenty big, for us anyway.

I teach at a religious school - I have the time off, but not the vacation funds of all the families I serve. I love my job, no complaints, and I understood the trade offs.

however, it didn't take much math to figure out that camping is cheaper, and it wouldn't take long for a camper to pay for itself. Another factor that I deal with, I have 4 kids, which means 2 hotel rooms or a condo wherever we went.

good buy! of course, I'll also add, you're kids won't remember sitting in a condo in FL watching TV. They will remember sitting around a campfire toasting marshmallows with daddy.

chipj29,

Totally agree. We couldn't be happier with our Utah. Plenty of space especially when the Add A Room is up! I'm in love with that thing! Much easier to put up than I thought it would be, too. When I first looked at that tangled mess on the floor, I thought it might be impossible to set up. It's easier with two people, though. That's for sure.

Stumps,
I hope they remember me that way instead of the guy who's always telling them to, "Stop that!" or "Don't hit your brother!" or "Talk nice!" or any of the other 5 million things you catch yourself telling your kids!

Actually they really do enjoy camping in the PUP. Even my pseudo-princess daughter likes it. She probably wouldn't admit it, though. She'll appreciate it more after this weekend. We're taking a father/daughter canoe trip with our church. Primitive camping for two nights. She'll think that PUP is the Beverly Hilton after that!

Funny, we kind of ended up with our 1st PUP the same way. Every summer we rented a cottage in Wasaga Beach for well over a $1000.00, 1 week vacation. The last year we stayed in the cottage we met a couple that were tent camping so we thought of giving that a try, this way we could get more time out with the family. We bought a tent and few accessories, tried the camping thing twice that same season close to home. By the end of that season we had our 2000 Jayco Quest. We were addicted and wonder why we spent so much on the cottage every year instead of doing this long before we did. Now we go some where different for DH summer vacation and enjoy the rest of our summer close to home for cheaper than the 1 week cottage rental. We have not been back to Wasaga Beach since then, should go back one year as we enjoyed our time and have tons of family memories. You will love your UTAH as that was our next PUP. Have fun, enjoy building family traditions and memories..

That is what happened to us. We moved to a TT very quickly and are now back in a PUP which we love. All of those amenities come with a high price tag and in the long run they are not worth it. (IMO). The main thing is to get out there and enjoy your family.

Did I mention that our new (to us) PUP was a Father's Day gift for me? Definitely the best Father's Day Gift I'll most likely ever receive!

We're taking it out again the second week of July for the FL trip. I'm a little nervous about pulling that distance, though. I'm sure I'll be white-knuckled for a little while and checking the rearview mirror every 5 seconds to make sure the PUP is still attached. And I'm positive I'll have that "what did I forget to do" feeling gnawing at me the whole way.

Getting a brake controller next week, so that will ease my mind a bit. But it's a big leap to go from never hauling anything (ever, in my entire life) to pulling our camper cross-country. I guess everyone goes through the "scared-to-death I'll cause massive destruction because of my ignorance" phase.

I'll take lots of pictures while I'm there.

By the way, anyone ever go to the Gulf Breeze campground in St. Joe Peninsula State Park in FL? I've read a couple of reviews, but I was curious if any of you had ever been there.
