Ask the man yourself The lobster man

Here is a dinner for two at your home: $39.99

Just a note from a former lobster pot hauler, the bigger the crab, the tougher it is, Your better off getting 3 crickets instead of on large on. Also note you will be 6 claws instead of two.

Another note, the softer the shell, the less meat.

Another note, how do you tell a male from a female, PM me.

PLEASE DON'T buy there!!

The Lobster Man uses the word "MAINE", but he's from Rhode Island, and his lobsters are NOT stated to be MAINE LOBSTERS. His website says he uses two HUGE boats for "offshore" lobstering - not in MAINE. The State of Maine has been trying to find a way to enforce against such use of the term "Maine Lobsters".

I just had a conversation with an actual MAINE LOBSTERMAN'S wife - she's getting around $3.50 a pound wholesale - signs in front of establishments seem to indicate prices up to $7.00. In most areas, you can ask around to buy direct from REAL LOBSTERMEN (!!) right off the boat.

Lobstermen are just now putting the traps out. I've been watching them painting "pots" bouys in their yards, loading traps onto trucks and floats, and stacking them on the sterns of the boats. It's hard work, and THEY deserve your patronage - not some big commercial company with a glossy website!

Thanks for the head up, I used to fish out of Nauset on the Cape. I know the work involved. To be honest I don't eat seafood. Having my mom put chopped clams in the peanut butter jar and telling use it was Cape Cod peanut butter. Lobsters for breakfast, Launch and dinner with a side of flounder gets pretty worn out after a few years. LOL.....

It got worse as the years went on, my father used to own Young's Fish Market in Rock Harbor on the Cape. What wasn't sold at the end of the season become winter spoils. Makes one appreciate a good road kill dinner after awhile. Bill

Her is the way we do it and why: we put a one to inches of water in big old pot that has a lid. we put the lobsters down in there heads up looking at you. But the burner on med to low an put the cover on the pot and let it boil over the lid. Lift lid so foam drops down, and put the lid back on the pot. When it boils over again, there down.

The reason for the cold water start, it said to keep them from tensing up and keeps more tender as they cook. Putting them in boiling water as most do, tightens them up and makes them tuff to chew. Good Luck and Happy picking's Bill

I (the rest of us, not able to be in Maine) would like to buy Maine lobsters and cook them in our homes, RV's etc.

Please, you in the know, give us names, numbers, web sites etc. of local fisher persons willing to ship.

Thanks,

David

When we would summer with our Gran on Little Sebago lake many many many years ago--we'd always have one dinner featuring Maine Lobsters. Gran would take my brother and I to the Portland docks to pick out the lobsters (I will always remember the ginormous lobster mounted on the wall!) She would also pick up some seaweed and when she prepared the cooking pot for them she would put cut up lemons in the water and the seawood went into the steamer basket as the lobsters "bed". Best lobsters I've ever had !

BTW--We would also take a trip out into the marshlands surrounding the lakes and find a clam shack where you could get fried clams--these were huge (I think 3 clams to the basket) not like the clam strips you get in restaurants. Man those were great!!
