Just got back frm Yellowstone- No lack of travellers there. All campgrounds were full and they were turning people away. Saw plates from everywhere.

We just left Golden's Dakota Ridge after 6 days, we were in for two Red Rock's Concerts (Plant/Krause & Knopfler - both outstanding!). The park was 95% full during this time. The nice gang that work their, commented that it is usually full on the weekends during this time of the year. So, I'd say with this sample, off about 5%.
In Tigers Run at Breckenridge now, with several open spaces...
I think that those who want to travel, do so. Those that want to stay local to contain fuel costs, also do so...
Best to all,
Smitty

Well, at least cruiserjs wants us there to spend money so we won't cancel our 5 weeks there mainly in Estes Park, Buena Vista, Lake City, Ouray and Cortez.

Meuller is a nice park! Look for wild life visitors in your campsite (wild turkey.) It will still be warm (haot) at that altitude... DVR is slated to be in the triple digits this weekend, but Leadville (10,200 ft) will be real nice.

I think they all went to Yellowstone this year. The park was very busy, and lots of RVers there.

I'm going to have to settle for turning the A/C down a few notches, getting out the old slide projector and slides of years past. What a bummer! Nothing can replace the cool, thin air and the fresh scent.

We have been camping in the state for about 7 weeks now. Six weeks in the Montrose area, then a week or so at Ridgway SP and now at Mueller SP for a week and then on to Rocky Mtn Park area. Very few out of state vehicles this summer. The ones we have seen are mostly from the neighboring states and the rest are Colorado tagged. Ridgway SP was full on the weekends but lots of spaces available during the week. Same here at Mueller SP. Tonight, Friday, it is filling up and the full sign is up at the entrance station but no more than 70% full the last 2 nights. In talking with our neighbors, most are either from the Denver area or up from the Springs for a few days.
Last year Ridgway Park was full every night for the 10 days we were there but not this summer. A few Texas tags, a couple of Kansas ones, a couple of NV ones, a couple of NM ones and 3 or 4 Florida ones like ours.
Here at Mueller it has been cool and rainy for the last few evenings, down to the mid 50s currently at 9:45PM. Nice weather to sit around the camp fire though.
