Yep...you guys in Denver want RV vacationers, come down here to the Springs and watch how busy it is on Highway 24 going toward Pikes Peak.....

Just wait until next year. Now everyone is using their credit cards for gas and not worrying.
We haven't camped once this year but not because of gas, just busy doing other things.

We've been in Colorado since June 25th - and every cg we've been in has been full or nearly full. The camp host at Lakeview (Taylor Park) says most of the campers, though, have Colorado plates. In Leadville, most of the folks we saw were from Colorado as well. Right now we're at Highlander in Lake City, and it's full (mostly Texas/Kansas/Oklahoma), and we saw "no vacancy" signs at Henson Creek. Gas here is $4.34.

We are having a great time here in Montrose. Into our second week of Jeeping the Ouray area trails. Not many off roaders here yet, the trails are somewhat lonely at times. Lots of snow in places but many trails are open. The campground where we are staying is about half full. Last year it was full at this time. It cost me about $250 more this year for fuel to get here from Florida than it did last year. Part of that cost is I towed my Jeep and the resulting lower fuel mileage this summer.

We were in Montrose July 1 to July 7 and the camp ground we stayed at was Montrose RV Resort and it was 95% full all week.

The per barrel of oil price decreased $19 in the four day period of 7/15 to 7/18. Am hoping this trend continues tomorrow (Monday, 7/21)...we'll see. With Iraq settling down, and us sending an envoy to sit in on talks between the UN nuclear inspectors and Iranian officials next week, and the speculators realizing that the downturn in the world economy that the bubble is about to burst, I think we will see big sell offs in oil futures next week.

Last Sunday afternoon we returned to Denver from Leadville. Never stopped once on I-70 into Denver. That is a first! Usually it is stop and go (mostly stop) all the way from Copper Mtn to Denver. It was a warm 102 in Denver on Sunday. Hope all of you out of staters get to make it here or at least somewhere this summer. It is going by fast. If you come out here, bring some rain with you. We need it bad.
