If you like Charleston, I would recommend James Island County park. It is probably the nicest park you will find anywhere. Ocean lakes at MB would be my pick as well

If she is a resort person, she will not like Huntington Beach State Park. No pools, but lovely beach and funky coastal town of Murrell's Inlet is great, but resortlike...no! If you've never seen the southern cities of Charleston and Savannah, that would be a must see on the way down or back home. They are gorgeous! Food is great too. Happy anniversary! We just celebrated our 44th.

Hi, Happy 25th! Myrtle Beach is great! Lots to do and see! Check out Ocean Lakes website: oceanlakes.com. Nice campground, right on the ocean. There is so much to do in Myrtle Beach, you won't get a chance to be bored. Your really not far from Charleston, which would make a nice side trip. Also Lakewood Campground right next to Ocean Lakes. Just as nice as Ocean Lakes. If you go to Myrtle Beach don't miss going to see Broadway at the Beach off of Rte 17 heading north. Lots of nice shops, restaurants, theatre, mini golf, small lake with boardwalks to cross over to the other side for more shops etc.

Have a Great Time!!!!

Resort you say? Fort Wilderness is THE resort campground left coast or right, period.

Just remember that traveling to the SE in the Fall you have to look out for hurricanes.

Willow Tree RV Resort in Longs, SC. See some pics below of our stay during March and again in December one year.

Willow Tree Pics.

Best sites are the signature sites which are on the lake and have hot tubs. We like site 16 the best (included in pics above). Call asap to lock in your reservation especially if you want a specific site. Good website -- has pics of every site.

Willow Tree is 14 miles west of North Myrtle Beach so it still close enough to drive into down for dinner - shopping.

Sites @ Willow Tree are huge -- sites at the beachfront CGs are not - IMO. But if you truly want to be camped next to the ocean, I'd recommend Myrtle Beach Travel Park over the others - largely because they do not allow golf carts zipping around all day and night - though perhaps that is not a problem in September. Might be more difficult to get an ocean front site (we were lucky to get one) but certainly worth a try. You can't see the Ocean from your site (most of them anyway because dunes are in the way), but it sure was nice not having anyone on our patio side. We were in site 413 in a rental Class A in 2004 -- you can see a pic of it here. Site with the VW beetle. Very nice and a short walk to the beach.

Between Willow Tree and Myrtle Beach Travel Park we'd pick Willow Tree - but we don't go RVing to shop or eat out so we have no need to make trips into town.

If it was a little later (Oct/Nov) I'd suggest Topsail Hill SP in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. The most beautiful beach I've ever been too -- and I've been to Maui. Yikes. Probably one of the top 2 or 3 CGs discussed on this forum. But I'm told Topsail can have awful biting flies in September.

Hope this helps.
