Hi, I just got my 5th wheel out of storage and broughtit home to try out everything to make sure all was working properly and found out the Air conditioner will not start up. I turn it on at the wall and I hear it try to start, motor hums, liquid sounds like it is circulating throughout the system, and then just when it sounds like its ready to kick on, it dies and shuts down, just to begin again in a minuete or so. I can hear the compressor hum louder and louder to the point is should kick on, but nothing. It tripped my house breaker once, 20 amp, my 2400 yamaha generator won't kick it over, overload light comes on and idels down. Any Ideas? It is charging the batteries right now, could that cause the problem? Thanks,Todd

I would bet that something is blocking the fan from turning- it doesn't take much. Get on the roof, take off the shroud and spin the fan by hand (be careful in case it's an insect nest).

The fan shaft is probably rusted in place. With the unit off, go up on roof and take off the shroud. Then clean the unit of anything that may have got in. Then take Liquid wrench and spray the fan shaft at the point where it goes into the casement. Turn it by hand or plyers until it moves freely and then spray it again and turn it until it spins free (doesn't stop after you spin it). Then have someone turn it on and see if the fan starts by itself, if not take a stick and push the fan the same time someone turns it on. Then let it run for at least an hour to free itself up. Replace shroud and you are done.

I would not believe it if i hadn't seen it for myself. I took your advice and went up on the roof and took off the cover and started to look it over and grabbed the fan and have it a spin. Didn't budge. Forced it to about a quarter to half turn and it spun freely. climbed back down, hit the switch and bang!!! It worked. Who would have guessed it was all just a stuck fan blade. Thanks alot, Todd

When I experienced the "just a hum" problem, A dirt dauber nest was blocking the fan blades.

This seems to be a common problem. I run mine about 15 mins every other week in winter. Runs alot more in summer. This keeps it in shape.
