Just installed a Moto Sat Dish on the roof. My mind is not made up between Direct or Dish. Money wise per month they are about the same. Both provide (for additional money) ABC, CBS, NBC & FOX. Dish doesn't provide as many HD ..... Hmmmmmmmmm!!! Decisions/decisions. Any help in swaying me one way or the other??
Thanks in advance!!

I have been very happy with Direct TV. I had Dish and had trouble getting the sat to lock on. Maybe just my dish. I don't have local channels but use the bat wing to get them. Since everything is going digital now, its easy to get HDTV reception over it. Now, if I am out in the boonies then all bets are off and I just use the Direct TV.

We have Directv and have had very good luck setting it up. My DH usually gets it going in about ten minutes.
By the way, we are Eugenians also.

Directv has the sports packages for NFL, MBL, etc if that matters to you. If you think it might matter in the future, say if your local team gets on a hot streak, I would go with Directv. We went with Directv 6 years ago so we could get all the NFL football games. It has worked great for us. Had it five years in the old coach with crank up roof mount unit which was easy to tune in and have had it for the past year with the TracVision in motion with TIVO which is also working very well for us. The Distance Networking (ABC,NBC, etc) you mentioned has been very nice to have for the past year as well. Almost a poor man's TIVO - if you miss something you want to watch on say NBC when it airs on the east coast, you can try again when it airs on the NBC West coast affiliate.

We've been using Dish Network for about 8 years now and about 5 years in the motor home. Been very pleased with service and the lineup.
We subscribe the to America's Top 250 and all the HD programming Dish provides. I also get my locals and 4 network feeds provided by Distance Networks when we are out of our local spot beam area. That is more than enough TV for me.
Just this last week Dish contacted me about my old HD receiver to tell me it would not get all the HD programming after November this year. They are replacing that HD receiver with a new one this Friday free of charge. So that means I get a free HD receiver for the motor home.
I already have the Dish 1000 antenna (sats 119, 110 and 129) for the motor home. Set up is fairly easy using Align-A-Site. Currently I think Wineguard and KVH are both providing a roof top antenna that supports Dish Networks 3 satellites and can receiver HD signals.
I'm no satellite person, but if I understand all this stuff Direct TV will require a 5 LNB antenna to receive Direct TV HD signals. Neither Wineguard or KVH is providing anything like that 'yet'.
BTW - Dish Network knows I have my receiver in the motor home, no issues with that.
I'm sure that if what I've said is wrong, someone will correct me.

You said "I just installed a motosat dish on my roof"
Motosat makes many different dishes, Some are for DirecTV Some for DishNetwork
Some can be used on either one..
Without knowing which dish, and if you want HD or SD television (Different dishes again) there can not be an answer to your question
NOTE that this is not an endorsement of DirecTV but I like a couple of their business practices better.
Which does not mean I like them only Dish I like less
For example when I had DISH they dinged me 5.00/month for an "ACCESS FEE" because there being no phone line to the RV the DVR could not "phone home" so I had to pay because there was NO ACCESS
Nothin adds excitment like something that is none of your business

I use a TracVision in-motion dish. Since mine coach is a 2002, the Dish Network would not work but the Direct TV hooked right up the first time. I think it is about the fact that the older dishes only tracks one satellite at a time and the Dish needs more than one. Mine works just fine now on Direct

I have used Direct TV with my in-motion system for 4 years, with no complaints. I switched from cable to Direct TV at the house, so I would only have one system.
When I called the dealership to set an appointment, to have the dome installed on the MH. They asked me which provider I was using. I told them Dish. The tech said I would have less problems with Direct, so I canceled the appointment with Dish and had Direct put at the house.
I don't know if it is still the same, but when I hooked up with Direct they knew that I was putting 3 receivers in the house and 2 in the MH, all on the same account. I was told that Dish wanted 2 different accounts.

That's odd my TracVision in-motion on my 03 works just fine with Dish Network...
