I set up my Direct in CG and invariably someone with Dish will come over for help in setting theirs up. Dish must be much more difficult to aim.

I think your MotoSat Dish will determine which is better. IMHO you should have decided what sat system you wanted, HD or not, etc. before deciding on dish.

I have MotoSat and Direct. You can have either, depends on how you set up switches when installing.

We and my son have Direct TV. We have used it at home and in the motorhome for 11+ years and recommend them as a provider. Their satellite is at a higher angle so the chances of signal blockage by trees or other objects is lower. If you get a message to call extension 7__ because your motorhome dish was not pointed at the satellite it can be reauthorized without talking to anyone in less than one minute. No experience with DISH.

Just installed a Moto Sat Dish on the roof. My mind is not made up between Direct or Dish. Money wise per month they are about the same. Both provide (for additional money) ABC, CBS, NBC & FOX. Dish doesn't provide as many HD ..... Hmmmmmmmmm!!! Decisions/decisions. Any help in swaying me one way or the other??
Thanks in advance!!

OH, come see our historic Wood Covered Bridges in Oregon!! You will love all 51 of them!!

We'll be in Portland for a few weeks the end of July. Where are the bridges?

But we've had Dish for about 10 years with very few problems (usually with Indian accents). Just have the basic package. Have the DVR in the house with the orginal receiver in the motor home. Every fall I call them and tell them the motor home is put away for the winter and they "turn off" the motor home receiver. Every spring I call and have them turn it on.

Thanks

Never had a problem setting up Dish. After getting the tripod anchored and plum it usually takes me only a minute or two to get a good signal.

Have helped 4 people having problems getting a signal over the years. One had Dish and 3 had DirecTV. All but one were having problems because the setup was not plumb. One (Dish) had a tree in the way of Satellite 119.

I use Dish and once I learned to use I was ok. Lots of operator error at first. Now I'm ok. I just don't call Dish directly about anything in the coach. It's ok to call with a little problem in the home, but don't waste your time unless you get someone in the US.

good luck,

KVH R5 System. I am using Dish.

After talking to a tech at both KVH and a tech at my local dealer, here's what I have learned. If your system is set up for Direct TV, and they come that way from the factory, then you need a softwear upgrade to make Dish work better. According to the KNH tech, the latest patch is only 2 weeks old.

I have been told then when I get this installed, my system will work perfectly. I am taking it in for the upgrade (and yes I have to pay for it) on Tuesday. I'll report back.

We had Dish for 3 years, when I tried to cancel, it took 12 months to cancel, and 3 better business bureau complaints to straighten everything out. They charged my credit card, etc, I wrote letters, tracked my calls & everything. Anyway, we are very happy with Direct TV, can take it with us, or use it in the stick house.
