Went camping last weekend and I found the 110 West satellite from DISH no problem. However, I could not get it to lock on to 119 West. I ran a Check Switch, everything I could think of, but to no avail. These 2 satellites are in the same location in the sky, aren't they? Any ideas on what I did wrong? Any ideas on how to correct this? I use the same receiver from the house as I do in my RV (I unplug it and take it along whenever we head out camping). I do have a portable Dish 500 that I have in the RV and use that with a portable mounting stand. When I got home, I plugged the receiver back in and it worked just fine (I was able to get the 110 and 119 satellites). Thanks in advance!!

I had the same problem after my last move, thought maybe I was off a little and missing one of the sats, turned out the switch that toggles between the two was bad, hooked up to the other one and all was good. I have one of the older Dish 500 that did not have the built in switches so I mounted two on my home-made stand and changing took care of it.

The 119 is just a little to the west and down a little from the 110.

As I always said (to myself), once you hit 110 just go down and to the right for 119! Once you get 110 your checkswitch is fine.

you can get 110 and 119 but you need the dish that can twist at the back as 119 is a little up and over to west

Speaking of finding satellites! We were in Canada last week, Niagara Falls, and my husband had a terrible time trying to lock in the signal for our DirecTV. He finally got it after a couple of hours of trying, then the next morning we had lost it again and so on. This happened 3 or 4 times while there. He had the proper directions, based on the rv parks instructions, but it was just very difficult to hold it. Does anyone know why this would happen? I thought maybe it was because we were so far north, but I would think that wouldn't make any difference.

No they are NOT in the same location.. In fact the numbers you quoted (110 and 119) are 1/3 of their address Zero degrees lattitude, 110 or 119 degrees west longitude and whatever the elevation is for geo-sync (about 1/8 light second or 37.5 million meters)

If you can see 110 and not 119 (NOTE you might also see 101 when this happens) look more west Likewise if you see 119 and perhaps 129, but not 110.. Try more east

What gives? When I first hook up the sat. dish (direct) it immediately gives the degree and elevation on the screen regardless of what CG I am located in. Is this something new from Direct? I can also punch in the zip for the same information.

Our friends in Washington State have Dish network and he told me that when he set up his dish that he had to aim for the 119 satellite with the one LNB and the 110 satellite will be received on the other LNB. He also had the dish skewed about 30 degrees so that one LNB is lower than the other.

I've had some aiming problems getting 119 on my Dish 500 antenna. I have replaced that antenna with the Dish 1000 (have future plans for getting HD in the mh).

My first trip out (in Yellowstone) with the new 1000, using my Align-A-Site, I just dialed in the numbers on the Align-A-Site. I went in the mh and did a 'Check Switch' and the receiver found 119, 110 and 129. It worked the first time and took about 2 minutes, never had to touch the antenna again for the 9 days we where there.
