I was told this was normal too. Then I pulled the covers off and found all the broken welds. Now I rent a site for 12 months of the year.

Can't be a Lippert problem. Carriage make there own frames and they are a well proven design over the years. Ours does some creaking as the weight switches from the pin box on the truck to the front jacks. Has never been a problem. There is an aluminum sub frame boxing in part of the Cameo's bath/bedroom area that is probably responsible for the creaking and cracking noises. The Carri-Lite and Carriage models have a fully welded steel sub-frame in this same area. I wonder if that prevents the creaking noises on those models?

Our '94 Carri-Lite still does the snap, crackle, pop and creak thing. I used to freak out and then I discovered there's nothing wrong, just the weight settling.
But then...............one day the wife heard it, and now I have her convinced we need to trade it in on a newer Carriage. Maybe the Domani???

Lippert had a recall a few years ago on their frames. The 2000 to 2004 frames had a weld cracking problem in the front pin area that was used by a number of manufactures. I know my frame was recalled and I had to take it back to the dealer and they took the front cover and the pin box off and had to weld some braces into the frame.

You are right, Carriage makes their own frames, is a big reason we bought a Carriage.
Ours also pops and crackles too. The weight shifting.

Well, it sounds like those with the same manufacture as my rig make the noise, and is normal. Carriage builds their own frames with a 5 year warranty on Cameo(7 years on the higher end units), unlike the Lippert frames with two years, if I remember correctly.

I'll give you another location you might want to check - your truck's rear suspension. I've noticed the same sound when hooking up when I had my 2500HD and my 3500HD. I don't believe it is the trailer frame, just the rear suspension settling in.
BTW - Carriage makes their own frames.

ALL trailers with leaf spring suspensions make some sort of sound as the weight is being shifted from front to rear and side to side. The weight shifting noise ( normal)is less on the morryde rubber suspension systems. Rarely is it the trailer frame that is making the noise, but rather the suspension components in both the trailer and the TV.
