I know I shouldn't go there, but when I had this problem I lost 70 pounds. That was two years ago and it's still off.

Ours is a short toilet mounted on a box-like riser. Hubby wears size 14 shoes; sons and grandsons also have huge feet. To put it delicately, I've had to encourage all my men to "lean in" considerably, to make my housekeeping duties easier???
Our next RV will have a pedestal-type of toilet so my guys have "foot room".

The problem of small shower and toilet is why I got a good deal on my MH. The fellow that bought it new was about 6ft 3 and couldn't stand in shower, so after one 600 mile trip he traded. One more foot in front of toilet would be great as well as the shower. Being wider than taller, height is not my problem, but the next buy I will be wiser in my choices.

Just upgraded to the foot-flush version of this toilet. Vastly superior to the original commode.

When we were shopping for our MH, the three things we tried were the shower, (Im 6'3 DW is 5'), second tried was the bed to see if I would fit on it and the last was the toilet.
Most of the units we saw, had the toilet sort of mounted sideways and perched on the wheelwell and DW couldnt reach the floor.

You can always replace the toilet if the RV uses the smaller seat. The Dometic Sealand Travel-Lite uses a full-sized residential seat and has a nice china bowl. It came with our new trailer but I installed one of these in our previous trailer.
Just be sure you have the clearance for the larger model.

The very FIRST thing on my list before heading out full-time for the MH was a new 'adult' size toilet!
The overall diameter was standard but it felt like you were always falling down to it.
Go to an RV store they have every model toilet you could ever want up to and including the china bowl!
They are so inexpensive I still can't understand why they just don't make a nice correct size one 'standard' on all RV's.

tomlang wrote: This is something to check out before buying an RV. I have no problems in my 20 year old Winnebago, and will have no problems in my next rig, a 5 year old Foretravel. Neither of these motorhomes places the commode in a separate room.
Before deciding to purchase, I also get into the shower and check for elbow room (and room to pick up the soap without opening the shower door)
Yes... test it out! (pretend and go through the motions)
My mom didn't... and she really regrets it. Because in their Holiday Endeavor, the toilet sits front to rear in a little side room with barely enough space to get in there, but what is even worse... when she leans forward to do her *paperwork* she hits her head on the forward facing wall! There is not enough room to complete what she needs to do!
She is just under 200 pounds and a tad round, but even any of us kids using her bathroom have all said the same thing! Short of cutting a hole in the wall for your head to move forward into, you just gotta contort yourself and make due. Sigh.
(our rig has a full walk-through bathroom where the toilet is in the same large room as the shower/sink/closets etc.)

When we were looking at tt to buy, everytime I went into one I would take a seat in the bathroom. The salesman looked at me funny. I explained that with my bottom I needed to be able to sit and then get back up without needing to be pried loose from between the sink and the wall. If my sides scraped I said, nope won't work. We finally found one that had the vanity outside of the water closet. Very comfortable. You do have a good foot on me so not sure about head room. Good luck on your search.
I decided to come back and delete the part of my post that had me lashing out at someone who obviously forgot what it felt like to be overweight. I apologize to anyone who I upset. This is a hot button issue for me, and if it hits wrong I go off. Again I'm sorry.
To the OP I hope someone here is able to offer you a real soulution to your problem.

Some of the problems encountered with RV restrooms have nothing to do with being overweight and everything to do with being a too-confined space - DH is 6'3" and weighs maybe 175 lbs. There's not an ounce of fat on his body (lucky son-of-a-gun)! But when the toilet is only 6" from the side wall, personal hygiene becomes a contortion performance.
Again, this is merely something for new buyers to ponder.
