We just came back from a camping trip and had a great time. However, I had to manually activate the slideout. I don't know why but it wouldn't activate with the power button.
The previous week, I went to the dealer to have the Dometic fridge worked on because of the recall.....coincidence !!!!
Anyway.....has anyone ever had problem with the slide out and what was done to remedy the situation.
Thanks

Hi,

Had the same problem, finally discovered one of the cables on the battery had worked loose. You have to have a complete circuit for the slide to work. This is true even if you are hooked up to electric service.

Had the same problem with my Jayco last year. They had a couple of plastic twist connectors that joined the trailer wiring to the motor leads and they were loose. One had allowed the two wires to completely separate, the other was just loose. Tightened, taped and they've been good ever since. You could check for a similar problem. Loose battery wire should affect more than just the slide.
Happy trails

Dre, I just went on a fishing trip and pulled my 21SSO up a very long and steep logging road and back into a lake. When I got there my slide wouldn't slide out, but get this, it would come back in. I figured I must have shaken a wire loose somewhere. When I got home I started looking for the obvious things. When I pulled the switch out I noticed that there were 6 wires connected. I still couldn't find anything so I took it in to the shop and they will look at it this Friday.

I can let you know what they find if you are interested. The good news about all of this is that I found out how easy it was to crank out the slideout. I wouldn't want to do this all the time but I am OK with it in a pinch.

Hi. Had an issue with mine this Memorial day weekend temporarily. In the driveway it worked fine. Got to the CG and started to setup but would not open, like it had no power. Not very happy I continued setup, it wasn't until I ensured it was level especially in the rear, did it finally open and it also closed with no problems. I was told in other forums that not being level may cause the slide not to operate. I have not had a problem since and hopefully never will

Thanks for all your helpful suggestions! It may have been that it wasn't level..this is the only site we've had so far that was at a slope. We'll see if it works at our next camping.
Another problem we did witness is the following: When we get back home from a vacation, and we park the HTT, the following day the propane alarm (that's the one at the entrance of the camper)starts beeping. Anyone had that problem in the past ?
Thanks

We had the same problem last year with our brand new Anitgua 215SSO (same mechanicals as the Travelstar). The slide-out typically would slide out with no problem but on 4 separate occasions it would slide in about 8-10 inches and then stop. Turned out to be a defective gear unit with some of the cogs partially worn on one side so the cog would push out but it would slip when pulling back in.

I would check the gear first since the electrical can be a long and involved wild goose chase. There is a protective relay in the slide-out's circuit which will deactivate when overloaded or heated up. It acts like a thermistor which resets itself after it cools down again. So if the gear is slipping, the drive motor overheats and the relay opens leaving no power at the switch. Give it some time (30-45 minutes) and it will reset and provide power to the slide-out.

As a matter of interest, I struggled to move my slide-out in manually. The folding sofa did not allow for more than a 1/4 rotation with my socket wrench and to make matters worse, the bolt that I was trying to turn was loose so I was getting less than 1/4 turn. I was able to move the slide-out in about 4 inches when the power reset and the unit slid in under power.

What is the best way to manually move the slide? Do you need special tools? Do you have to remove the front of the sofa?

The Sofa has a kick plate on the front (that flappy thing that the backs of your legs and heels touch when sitting). There are buttons that pop off on this kick plate that expose 2 Phillips screws. remove the screws and you can view the whole mechanism.

I know that some HTT's with slide originally came with a crank to manually move the slide in or out. My Roo has one. Does anyone with a Starcraft know if they came with one as well?
