I have a 23 foot 2003 Born Free class C with a VORTEC 8100 engine. I would like to tow either an older Ford Focus or PT Cruiser with 4 wheels down.
1. Are all models, of the above with standard transmission, towable by putting them in neutral without any other devices.
2. Do they need an auxiliary breaking system on the car when towed?

Check out the dinghy guide on the lower left corner of the page.
As far as auxillary braking; first, check your state laws. Some states require it. If you don't live in a state that requires it then it's up to you. Some people on this site believe it's a must. I tow an Explorer that weighs about 5,000 lbs. so having auxillary braking is important with that much weight. If I were pulling a 2,500 lb economy car then it may not be so important.

We tow a PT Cruiser and use a brake buddy. The difference in stopping distance and braking effort with the BB is quite noticeable compared to towing without it.
Our Cruiser is an automatic, so we use a Remco. I know FMCA and some of the popular RV magazines publish annual lists of which makes and models are natively towable 4 down. When you say "without any other devices" don't forget that you'll need some form of brake lights and turn signals working on your toad, just as with any other trailer.

Does anyone out there toe a 2002 Ford Focus Sedan S3? If so can you safely toe it 4-down? You probably have to have the key switched on to unlock the steering wheel but I'm concerned about any other factors.

I mean "tow" not "toe".
