Yesterday the pantry latch gave out, the pantry slid open, the RED food color container broke, the STUFF ran out and stained the middle of the floor. In as much as we want to replace the carpet with a surface more kitchen/traffic friendly one might think this is the sign to do it. We're not ready to do it right this minute.

What have you used to remove food color from fabric?

Go to Walmart and get a bottle of FOLEX Carpet Cleaner for about $6.00, this stuff is amazing; spray it on wipe it off and stain gone! One of the products that I seen that actually works!

We have used carpet cleaner with oxyclean (IE Resolve with Oxyclean) on our carpet for organic based stains with excellent results. It also removed water stains from our ceiling. Comes in a spray bottle readily available.

Sounds like a good place to put a throw rug.

I like the throw rug suggestion.

In addition to the suggestions above I sometimes use Live Steam, however this may not be the best choice on your carpet.

You could also figure what to mix in to make the stain match the carpet's original color and go for it.

I once worked with a teacher who had brand new white carpet and her daughter spilled something on it (something awful but I can't remember exactly what it was) and she got it out with Incredible . I see that stuff all the time at the grocery store.
I remember that because we laughed about how "incredible" it was that she got it out of her carpet. I think it might have been red lipstick.
