IMHO,
Most of a dollar spent at Walmart or Global Chain Stores in Mexico or USA does not stay in the country where it is spent. That includes USA! About the same amount returns to USA if spent in Mexico if compared to the amount of the dollar spent in USA. Same, no winner!
Most of a dollar spent filling your tank in USA does not stay in USA. Most of a dollar spent filling your tank in Mexico STAYS in Mexico. Mexico winner by a nose!
USA sends more aid to Mexico than the RV community will ever spend in Mexico. Mexico winner by a car length!
Where you spend your RV dollar has little bearing on traveling to Mexico from an Economic prospective. Rver winner by a RV length!

Roc, I agree. On the other hand, Mexico loves big box stores. They are guaranteed to bring in the 15% IVA that is charged on all products but food and medicines.

Rocmoc: You are wrong about the $ remaining when you buy fuel. Something like 40 % of the fuel is imported already refined from the USA. Being as Mexico subsidizes fuel to obtain the low prices, every liter of fuel you buy in Mexico is a negative for the country. When you cross into Noagles MX and buy diesel Pemex is losing money on your purchase as it is likely American fuel!

Moisheh, I agree with you regarding the loss to Mexico when I cross and purchase fuel. BUT, in comparison to the amount of dollar remaining in Mexico from a fuel purchase between Mexico and USA, MORE remains in Mexico. Also as you know most of the fuel imported is oil refined in a joint venture with Shell Oil, Mexico supplies the oil, in Texas and is returned to Mexico for domestic use. Therefore most of the dollar remains in Mexico. Shell realizes a very good return from the partnership, but Mexico reaps most of the return. We need to spend more time philosophising than eating and drinking when I visit.

It is now 8:30 p.m. CDT. I am having my first vodka on the rocks. Oops, did I say first? I will soon be ready to add my two cents, and I know it makes our mod quite happy .
Just trying to lighten things up a bit.

Moisheh, LOL! Didn't mean we would do less eating and drinking. Just add a little philosophizing.

I really do not worry where the money goes after it is out of my hands.
