Don't know how many of you are keeping up with the College Baseball World Series in Omaha. It is down to the championship series (3 games) between Univ of Georgia (Bulldogs) and the Fresno State (Bulldogs)
Georgia won the first game Monday night in a come from behind and managed to stop a Fresno rally. Some really fine hitting and pitching from both teams.
Last night, game 2, Georgia was playing pretty good for the first couple/three innings then... I guess we made them mad. WoW!! These guys came alive and hit everything we threw at them. I was amazed and dismayed. Georgia looked like they could not buy a hit by the end of the game. Fresno beat us so bad I believe even they felt bad about it.
However....tonight is game three and it will tell the tale. Coach David Perno will have the Georgia team up and ready and on top of their game. I just hope Frresno celebrated long, hard and late last night.
Seriously, Fresno had some of the best hitting I have seen in college baseball and deserved the win.

Sorry Horsedoc about the beating last night. I am a former Nebraskan and attended the CWS many times ovet the years that I lived there. DH and I went up to see the first game of the CWS this year. If you are a Nebraskan, you pick a team to follow, then cheer for them until they are eliminated. My two teams this year were LSU (because their fans are just as nuts as us Husker fans!) and Fresno State (because they were the "Cinderella" team).
I turned on the game last night when I got home and Fresno State was down 5-0. I gave up on them and started watching something else. Boy, am I glad that I checked on the score again! It was 6-6 when I went back to ESPN and there was no going back for Fresno State!
May the best team win tonight. I am sure that it will be a fun game to watch.

Early last week I posted about the CWS but no-one paid any attention. Stated that if the Tigers couldn't make it my favorites were the Bulldogs, yours because they are an SEC team and the others for the Cinderella story. That game Monday was one hell of a ball game all the way to the last pitch. Last night Fresno erased that 5 run lead in a heartbeat. Good luck to your Dawgs, they'll need it.
Both are Bulldogs, both have Red & White colors. One from the East Coast, other from the Left Coast.

Nothing better than CWS in Omaha.
I have a sweet tender nature, however I enjoy sharing my thoughts and opinions.

Horsedoc--my condolences on the loss of the CWS for your Dawgs. They played well, but it just wasn't their year. I thought they were going to comeback in the bottom of the 9th--but no such luck. Perhaps they will be one of my teams to follow next year. The coaches and players all seem like real class acts. Both teams were so good--it is a shame that one of them had to lose.
If they do make it back to Omaha next year--try to catch a game. There is nothing like going to watch your team in the CWS in Omaha. You would have so much fun. It is a great atmosphere--which is part of the reason why the CWS has been based in Omaha for many years and will be there for the next 25 years. (Can you tell that I am a proud former Nebraskan?!) The LSU fans come back year after year even when their team isn't in it. I have been raving about it to DH and he finally got a chance to experience it this year. He is back at sea now and I have been e-mailing him regular CWS updates.
Good luck to the Gerogia Bulldogs next year. Congratulations to Fresno State!!

Glad the Bulldogs won.
Looks like the Left Coast dogs wanted it more. The supposedly semi tired starting pitcher who shouldn't have gone more than 4 innings lasted a full 8 and 130+ pitches. Then that kid Detweiler, what a game, 2 homers and a double, drove in all 6 runs then caught a deep fly ball for the final out. Even the freshman ShortStop who had 3 errors early on stopped a hard shot over the middle and got the ball to 2nd to start a double play in the ninth.
Georgia Dawgs will be back in Omaha though, IF they can get thru the SEC, regionals and super regionals next year.

After finishing with a losing record, I'm happy the right coast Bulldogs made it as far as they did.
I agree that they'll be back and better next year. I suspect that Beckham at least may be around for even longer ... he's got big league potential.

I had an early start for a delivery yesterday and didn't even get to visit the forum at all, but did make it this AM.
I like the 'left coast' - 'right coast' dogs concept. I can only say that the left coast dogs are the best team... period. It was clear from about the 4the inning the stars were lined up with them. The kid with the damaged thumb played like it was not damaged at all.
Congrats to the best team in college baseball. What a great series !!!
Fall brings the oval ball and THAT will be another story!

Yep--bring on the football season. Although DH and I live in Oklahoma, we are die-hard Husker fans. I grew up in Nebraska and got DH interested in the Huskers. He is British, so he has tried to get me interested in soccer--with mixed results!
DH and I are hoping that the Huskers will start on the long journey back to football glory! It was a LONG, LONG four years under Callahan. We have more confidence this year now that Tom Osborne and Bo Pelini are in charge. GO BIG RED!
