My wife just brought in a box from the barn. In it was a lot of old pictures and my baby book. While going thru it, I found a journal my Grandmother wrote back around 81.
It was a trip I took from Oklahoma to DisneyLand in a motor home. It was myself, my sister, grandma and grandpa, and my great grandmother.
It sure brought back some memories. I was right at 6 or 7 years old.
We took two more trips with them. One in another motor home and one in a van with a pop up. Both the other trips where to Disney world. Two weeks at a time on each trip.
I guess I need to call grandma and ask if she has journals from the other two trips.
Thought I would throw this out there. I think I will try to remember to write down traveling accounts when I take the kids out from now on. They may like to read them later in life too.
I remember our first camper when I was a kid it was a homade popup in p/u bed with a tent on it We called it ol rusty and I was about 6 or 7 then we moved up to a Nimrod I think it was called it was our first pop up with beds but that was all from that to a starcraft pop up now that was livin a Ice box no fridge then, a table and sink and stove Later in their years Mom and Dad bought a Class C and used it often till Dad passed then slowly Mom found other types of vacationing more appealing My own family started with an old bunkhouse TT and are now on our 2nd fiver and we love to take our own grandkids Even. though I Luv all the luxuries we have now I wouldn't trade the memories of old rusty for anything Especially watching the mini explosion that happened every time Dad lit the ol Coleman Lantern (no electric then)
If you can find some of the better pics how about scanning them and posting a few. A picture of yourself with all the grandparents and maybe another of the rig itself would be a great place to start.

We moved!! No more nasty neighbors, no more rotten parking. I am saving this picture just to remind myself how bad it was.
One of our camping buddies gave us a Camping journal for Christmas last year. I have started journaling each trip we take, along with a few scraps of souveniers, ticket stubs or brochures of places we vist. I'll add some pictures as well. The journaling is a new thing for me, and I'm going to try to keep it up.
Every summer from about '63 to '72 we went to Mexico for 2-3 weeks. I mean in the INTERIOR of Mexico, not just the border towns. Driving all the way down to the Yucatan, across to the Pacific Ocean side, etc.
My mother kept spiral notebooks of every trip. How much gas we filled up with, what it cost, where we stopped for lunch & what we ate, everything!
When my dad retired & they moved to Guadalajara permanently, their moving van was broken in to. One of the boxes stolen was those journals. We were all heartbroken.....
