Ordered a new Dometic 3 cu ft refrigerator this morning from PPL folks in Houston. Weighs about 74 lbs. Stands just 30" high. My address is in Colorado Springs. They quoted me frieght shipping of $137 wow! Does this sound right or did I get hit with a hidden fee kind of deal? Thanks.

unfortunatly with the price of fuel, that sounds about right.I was quoted just about $175.00 to ship a Reese hitch around 180 miles.

Seems high, but that is the nature of the beast lately. Might be cheaper to buy one someone has in stock locally. Then they are getting the bulk shipping rate. Watch out though, sales tax may eat up the difference.

UPS runs $62.00 standard to $184.00 3 day depending on how fast you want it for a box that size and weight.

If coming by UPS, there are extra costs involved due to the over-sized box and the package being over their 70 pound limit.
If coming by freight, which is what I suspect, your price sounds about right.

BUT, PPL drop-ships most of their items so I doubt the refer is coming from Texas. It could be coming from Dometic in Indiana or Stagg/Parkway, a large distributor, in another area of the country.
My last shipment from them actually came from Stagg, only about 20 miles away from me in Calif.

I'm curious with who as well. We ship UPS every day and if I would ship a package overnight that weighed 50#'s, it would cost a lot more than $25.00 from Los Angeles to Arizona much less to the East Coast.
