I am setting here drinking coffee and going through the forum when something caught my eye. I looked up and saw four bucks in velvet walk through our camp site. We are at Skidaway State Park near Savannah, GA.

One of my favorite things to do is sit outside in the morning with the coffee mug and just watch nature go by. We will be heading out tomorrow to Big South Fork National Park for 8 days and our favorite site. We normally see all kinds of deer and turkey. Last year we even saw a black bear on a hike. It was on a hike to appropriately named "Bear Creek Overlook"

We have never had that happen, yet, knock-on-wood! I too would be scared if it did happen though!

I was in Forsyth, MO (Branson area) several years ago during Easter weekend. It was about 4am and I woke up early, made coffee and was sitting outside drinking coffee and listening to nature. Out of nowhere comes a momma black bear and 2 cubs. The CG I was at is right on Lake Taneycomo below the Powersite Dam. The mother took the cubs down to the lake, they stayed for about an hour or so fishing then she took them back up into the woods. What a BEAUTIFUL SITE. They were probably 40 - 50 feet from me.

I live in an area where there are about 15 five acre lots surrounded by 400 1/4 acre lots. My lot is nature's hideout. Over the years we have had deer, foxes, ground hogs, ducks, geese, coyotes, herons, skunks, possums, racoons. The other day I looked up from the table and there was a turkey in my front yard. The last time we went camping we didn't see anything.

It is awesome to have these animals in or around camp. Last year we were out in a place called Tex Creek and counted around 15 moose and many many coyotes within 500 yards of camp. Later that night while sleeping something ran into the camper. Made it rock and woke everyone up. Still not sure what it was. We also had 2 bears barking at us all night. Awesome feeling.

Guess he doesn't like it, to many wild things running around. Next you know the chipmunks will be sitting on the picnic tables demanding to be fed. Places like that give me the creeps. No, I'd rather have trains going by all hours of the night. People partying to 4:00 in the morning, the police coming in to break up domestic fights. I mean think about it.
Oh, by the way we had deer feeding at are campsite, end of talk.
But to go into how the police had to pull the knife out of this other guys back, there was blood all over the place. The broken bear bottles yad yad yadder, see what I mean.
Second thought,, I'll take the deer. Bill
