We are planning to spend some time in the Red River, Eagle Nest New Mexico Area during the Texas July August heat wave. I Know that these are popular ski resorts in the winter but has anyone had any experience RVing there during the summer.
I will be driving a Aspect 26a and pulling a 10 ft covered trailer.
I don't tow a tode but do use a Goldwing for the necessary shopping and sight seeing.
We were also considering Pogosa Springs Colorado. If anyone of you have any suggestions on either place it would be appreciated. I have learned that the web sites don't always tell the whole truth about their facilities.
Thanks
Gary

I looked at Chama RV park and find it interesting. Why did you pick this park and when was the last time you visisted?
The info about the trains sounds like it would be fun. I am open to all suggestions, so please post your feelings.
With the cost of fuel and everything else, I think that we all will be counting on our fellow RV'rs to help us out. Lord knows there are a lot ob bad experiences so that is what II am tryong to avoid.

Thanks
Gary

The area you're suggesting is beautiful and cool in July/August. Red River would be the coolest due to elevation but I would make a base camp in Eagle Nest. Several RV parks on the lake with FHU. From there Red River is about 16mi., Angle Fire about 10mi. and Taos about 25mi.
On your way there go thru Clovis Nm.. A good friend has a Honda dealership there and he'll convince you that you need a new Goldwing.
Pagosa Springs, Creede is a good choice as most anywhere in that area, just a couple of hundred miles or less farther.

Enjoy your trip.

Yep, that part of NM along with Ruidoso, due to altitudes , are very kind to us kool summer seekers. We spend a month or more there every other year. We base camp in Ruidoso and then head north . I agree about Eagle Nest being a good roost to fly from. Do yourself a favor and leave the a/c at home, you sure wont need it up there.

Clardy, hang west on 82 and go to Ruidoso, Circle rv park. They have everything, (except the bootlegggers you are so used to) and 3 casinos. From there you can discover the whole area, Cloudcroft, Albq, Santa Fe, Taos, Red River and on up to the Colo lower south area. Beautiful country and the nicest people outside of Texas.

If you check out the rv-dreams.com journal...Linda and Howard are in Chama and there is no grocery store for miles and miles and miles. Check their entries for more info. on the area. www.rv-dreams.com

My folks are staying in Eaglesnest at an RV park that they just love. I should be talking with them tomorrow and I will find out the name and will post it then. Mom said the temperature has been in the upper 30's at night and middle seventies in the afternoon. Wish I was there....

Hey CowgirlCreations:
We were in Chama last year for 4 days and yes there is a grocery store just outside of town.
Not a mom & pop type, just a little bigger and their prices were in line with everybody else's.

I'm not much for Red River. The one nice park is ran by a real Jerk. The other are Ok but not very scenic.

I would definitely recommend going on up into Colorado. It's a little further but well worth the extra mileage. If I was going to stay in the area, I'm like some of the others. I would stay in the Eagle Nest area.

With all the inputs , we are getting exicited to get going. Thanks for the (New to Me) RV Dreams Web Site. I really enjoyed all the inputs about Rving.I have added it to my favorites.Scoutmaster thanks for your inputs, some others have talked in the same direction as you.
We will be traveling with a couple from Paris area. Collectivelly we made a decision to stay in Eagle Nest at least initally. The other couple is leaving today, the 27th. Wife and I are waiting till after the 4th to depart.
Wife and I was talking jokling about the cooler temp, she is adding the electric blanket to her side of bead. I am looking foward to ridding the Goldwing bike thru out the area to check it all out.
We are taking our bicycles also for the short trips and daily excerise.
Who knows just could see some of you thru our travels.
Thanks for all
God Bless
Gary and Ann
