Over Memorial weekend some camping friends of ours were having issues with their Yamaha 2400 generator. Seemed some of the appliances were not operating correctly. At first we thought it was the converter acting up, as it was making some odd noises. Before they left, we decided to check the output on the generator, and it was only 70 VAC.
Rather than drag it to the dealer and wait, we popped the side covers off, and found the electronics (inverter?) board was tilted about 45 degrees out of it's slot. It is held in place by a large rubber band. Once we put it back in place, all was good. Not sure if there is a tip-over switch in the generator that caused it or what, as we did not tilt it afterward to see if the problem reoccured. Also not sure if the board was tilted during shipping or his regular use.
Just wanted to share what we did, and if anyone has this issue, check that board!!
