That’s why I’ll never let my dear wife drive the camper! All her experience is with driving a BMW fast! It would take a lot of practice to bring her up to speed driving a big TC. And then when a road hazard suddenly appeared out of the blue, she would probably revert to muscle memory and crash the truck anyway!

Also putting a big camper like the Lance 981 on a SRW truck is just looking for trouble. Sure, you can set the truck up to handle the weight but you simply don’t have the stability a DRW truck gives you in an emergency avoidance maneuver! That’s just the law of Physics folks!

I am sorry you had such a horrific experience but grateful you are all unharmed. I know I would have second thoughts about a camper again. Can't blame you there.

We all joke about the DW driving until we read a story like this. It could happen to anyone, however my wife just doesn't have the sense of the high center of gravity.

Sure there's a DRW/SRW story here, but any truck with a high CG and and jerk the wheel and chances are you'll have a vertical viewing windshield.

Just glad you're ok. As I like to say; insurance is good for replacing things, not people.

You can buy a new truck and camper. I'm glad the injuries were minor but now I'm really worried. I'm really worried because I'm heading to Pennsylvania in 5 days!!!! Sorry to hear about the incident glad to hear about the outcome. Dave.

For many reasons, it can happen to any of us, at anytime. Good that no one was hurt. I bet it was a heck of a ride, probably in slow motion.

There was a 4 car accident IN TOWN on a CITY STREET this week and the ONLY vehicle that rolled over was an 18 Wheeler loaded with chickens.

The dual wheels on the truck and the trailer did not save the truck in a 45 mph accident.

Physics??

===============================================================

SPRINGDALE - Four adults and an 8-month infant were injured Tuesday around 10:30 a.m. in a four-vehicle accident at the intersection of East Robinson Road and Butterfield Coach Road.

The injured were taken to Northwest Medical Center-Springdale. The child was listed in serious condition, according to a police report. The child was transferred to Children's Hospital in Little Rock, according to police. The names of the injured have not been released.

How the accident happened is still under investigation.

The accident involved a truck loaded with live chickens, a Schwan's truck and two passenger vehicles. The truck overturned killing scores of birds and setting other birds free. The intersection of Robinson Avenue and Butterfield Coach Road was closed to traffic for approximately four hours as officers investigated the accident, removed the vehicles and rounded up chickens.

Any accident you can walk away from is a "good" accident. Wish you guys the best.

Yes, Physics.

The wider the vehicles stance and the lower its center of gravity, the more stable it will be. That’s Physics 101.

I’ve seen a formula one race car flip. The laws of Physics simply state that it’s just less likely to do so vs. that semi full of chickens.

Happy to see you're still beatin' and breathin' alive!. I can only imagine what your DW was thinking - how did you handle all the action?

I hope your DW hasn't given up on TC. Do you know what you'll replace the camper with?

Be safe.

Man, what a terrible thing to have happen. Glad you are all OK. But this post and thread will be a good one to pull out when people talk about how safe it is to upgrade their trucks and overload. Your truck was upgraded about as well as anyone would have done, and it just wasn't safe. There is no way a vehicle should roll just based on an avoidance maneuver. Manufacturers test that extensively. And personally, I don't think the gender of the driver had anything to do with it, I think that 4 or 5 thousand pounds on a SRW truck had everything to do with it.
