I don't think the microwave in our camper will run on a 1000 watt genset, I know the little GE countertop I have will not, one of the reasons I kept my otherwise very nice Honda EU1000iA2 just one camping season. Kept the batteries charged. Would run my coffee maker in the morning.

Wouldn't run my refrigerator at home during summer power outages either so this became a very expensive camping item. The EU2000i will handle the camper for the most part, but was of minimal help with the house during power outages so it was still "just another of Chuck's expensive camper toys."

The EU3000is, which I now have is a PITA to take camping but will run the main parts of my house during power outages to include 3 or 4 days of no power in a row during winter storms.

A little more than $100 got me an interface/isolation box for my main breaker box at home. Runs the kitchen, family room, computers, TV, etc.

Get the 2000 if you want the microwave. Also if your converter is rated over 45 amps you will need the 2000 to avoid overload at full output.

If you can skip the microwave and your converter is 45 amps or less the 1000 will do great.

For the difference in price I would spend a litte extra and get the 2000.

Chuck,

Where did you get your isolation box for the home?

Thanks, Mike

Last year I lifted the 3000 into the Yukon at home by myself; lowered it to the ground at the campground by myself; lifeted in back into the Yukon by myself and lifted it back out at home by myself.

I was feeling that for a month; not an experience I care to repeat.

My twins are 8 and weigh a grand total of about 90 lbs combined.

Honda dealer had them. Had to rewire the connector from split 110+110 (220) to 110 in parallel. Easy to do with the right plug. Runs my natural gas furnace, TV, internet, etc.

IMO...the Yamaha is a better option. Model Inverter EF2400iS is just right for your needs. Plus at only 70lbs (dry weight)...a lot easier on the back.

Honda makes a good product...but the Yamaha seems to better (in this case...bigger is better).

I just remembered I had a wheel kit (4 wheels) put on the bototm of the 3000.

I'm thinking I could get a little ramp and it wouldn't be too hard to just roll it up into the back of the Yukon.

For what you are asking..The Honda EU2000I is simply the best..

Lightest, most fuel efficient and great price from Wise sales at $860 no tax and free shipping..

And bigger is not always better!

Then you can sell the 3000 and purchase a second 2000 if you want to run your air conditioner on occasion. Otherwise you can leave the second one at home.
