It never ceases to amaze me how some folks fail to contribute any meaningful dialogue when someone posts a valid request for information.

Perhaps Johnny T. can add a section to this forum where all the comedians on board can reveal their talents, and then perhaps we can focus on the OP's request for information.

A quick bit of info. Depends on what size of motorhome you are getting. The Workhorse I believe has a 4 speed tranny in the shorter ones(I believe up to 34 feet?) and the Ford has the 5 speed if the chassis is 2005 or newer. The Ford (again if chassis is 2005 or newer)will have the new 3 valve V10 engine rated at 362 horsepower. My two cents after extensive research. The two we have narrowed it down to are both less than 34 feet long and will be on the Ford Chassis because workhorse only has a 4 speed tranny.

I have a Holiday Rambler Admiral and the WH Chassis is world's better than the Ford Class A's I have driven. I also know that the Admiral / Arista come in both flavors. I had a E450 V10 Class C -- which is not an apples to apples comparison to the Class A -- but that Ford engine / tranny combo was great too.

Anyway, the WH / Allison 6 Speed can't be beat IMO. Also, we recieved a nice packet in the mail yesterday from Workhorse welcoming us to the family, giving us information for roadside assistance, etc.. I am not sure what the warranty is on the Ford, but the WH warranty is 5 / 50.

Good discussion and lots of opinions. I think, in the end, its a personal choice.

PM me if you have any questions on the Admiral. Happy choosing.

Gee did some one get up on the wrong side of the roulette wheel
When a question like this is asked you know this can happen.... even if you are around a camp fire the dialog will go similar.
There is no way someone else can think that others seriously should tell them what to buy. The choice is theirs in the end and THEY will have to live with that decision...Not the "comedians" (ok I am one) on this forum.
If the OP is upset by this I am sorry but to me asking someone else about Chevy or Ford (they are both respectable products each with their own pros and cons)is like asking someone to pick out my undies...It just aint going to happen...

Here is the units we are looking at.From what we have seen they all look good from the pictures. We just have to look at them in person to see if the bathroom is any bigger than our class c.

Dippers, you couldn't be more wrong in your accessment with respect to legnth. Any MH built on a W-20 or W-22, regardless of length, will come equipped with a six (6) speed Allison, not a 4 speed. Bagman

As for the models you have chosen, the Arista is the entry level the Admiral next step up. We too have been looking for a while and are looking at a safari on the same floor plan as the admiral 30SFS(Both made by monico). We looked at a new Arista 30 footer a couple of weeks ago and the build quality inside was not that good. Open the cupboards or cabinets and see if they are finished on the inside and pull out the drawers to see if they are single layer or 4 or 5 layer wood boxes. We were told to look where it's not obvious, under couches etc behind drawers, if those places are finished off it's a better quality coach, if there not you've got an entry level.

Bagman, after checking it out, I was wrong and you were right, the workhorse W20 or W22 comes with the 6 speed. My apologies.

On a side note in our research we've driven both the workhorse and Ford F53 chassis a 31 foot Class A(like the admiral you are looking at) and could see much difference in ride. The only way to tell is drive them yourself, this Forum is full of Pro Ford or Pro Workhorse or Anti Ford and Anti Workhorse owners.

As Ed C has said. You should take them both for a drive. I just traded in my older coach with the older Ford for a new coach with the Work Horse and it is night and day. I have a few things that I personally experienced between the 2 and made my decision based on my personal experiences. They were major too!

It all comes down to personal needs.
