How difficult is it to install a city water line to an existing water system in a camper? The water line in my DIY camper van will supply 2 sinks. Is installing a city water line as simple as installing a tee in the existing output line from the pump and running the line from there?

Pretty much except for one thing. You need some sort of back check valve or the pump will spray water out the city connection when not hooked up. Everything you will need is available at an RV shop. The pump will already have a back check if it is a regular RV water pump.

The standard RV city water inlet is a back check valve

I recall my old Scamp.. No city water hook in at all.... But only one sink

And no water heater either (I used a 30 cup coffee pot for hot water)

I drilled a hole and put a short (Very short) 1/2 inch pipe nipple through the wall, caulked and sealed.. Water inlet fitting on the outside (Female hose end) spigot on the inside.. That was my entire "City water" system.. Took about no time at all to "Winterize" it when I got home from my last trip of the season (since when you unhooked the city water hose the short nipple drained, no check valve in system at all)

he could use a check valve or he could use a manual valve to switch from one source to the other either way works fine and yes it is very easy to install. You can get the exterior mount from any RV store to make it look clean and factory looking.

I've added a city water connection so I'd have them on both sides. Just make sure you get one with the check valve built in and tee into a cold line after the pump... just like you said. Craig
