I am on many different forums and this one is really lacking some important features that others have. First of all it would be nice to see the last member who replied to a given topic, we see the author but not the last to reply.
It would also be nice to some type of indicator for posts that we have previously replied to.
Also I noticed the "go to the first new post" is worthless and doesn't work correctly at all. It usually takes you to the last post in the thread instead of the first new post since you last visited.
These are just a few things that I noticed that would make suing this great source of info even easier and quicker.

Try reversing the "go to the first new post" to the go to the last new Post" Last being the last one entered, first being the oldest one. At least that's the way it's working for me. Bill

Showing the last member to make a post has been on the wish list for some time. I've not ever seen a discussion of an indicator for "posts" that one has replied to. I guess you mean "topics" instead of "posts." Of course you can see all of your posts by clickin on the View post link on your My Forums page or in the list of links that are displayed when you click on your name to the left of any of your posts.

The "go to the first new post" works perfectly for me, whether I have my preferences set to show newest or oldest first. I wish there was a "go to the first new post" link for topics that have only one page of replies. I keep my prefrences set to 10 posts per page because this link is not displayed until there is a second page of replies.

To view my posts I either subscribe to the topic or go to "My Forums" and click on "My Posts"

What I really like about this forum is that you can read the first few lines of a post instead of having to click on the post.

Agree! And a picture posting Campsite area -- by state. The sticky on the CG forum is so big it's become almost useless.

There was suppose to be a plan to solicit more input -- or that is what I thought when they asked us to participate in a survey several months ago. I signed up for feedback after that survey - which was intended to keep folks up to date on progress. But I've yet to get one message from them.

I am talking about looking at the list of threads and being able to tell threads that you have already replied to. Many forums have this feature, all it is , is a simple icon.
What I mean by " first new post" on other forums it will remember where you have viewed that thread previously, and when you click on the "first new post" it will take you to the first post made since you left that thread. When I click on it sometimes it will work that way, but 90% of the time it takes me to the very last post in that thread!! There is just a lot of wasted time scrolling and hunting on this forum that you don't have on other forums. Still the best RV forum on the net though!!!

As I stated above, (at least close to) 100% of the time, "Goto first new post" works exactly as it is defined, at least for me. It does seem that the definition is different than you want it to be.

On this forum, "Goto first new post" should take you to the first new post made in a thread after you logged out, or have been inactive for a period of time, which you determine in your preferences. There is no "Goto first new post" link for a thread that has only one page, but the New post icon should be indicated based on the same criteria.

Your last post confused me. I have my preferences set to show 10 posts per page. (One can choose to show 20.) If I'm reading page 2 of a multiple post thread, and I read only the first two posts on that page, how would the forum know how many of the 10 posts I read?

Whatever the mechanism, would we want the forum to use that overhead to keep track of all the diffenrent threads that are being read. At peak times, the forum has more than 5000 readers; there are currently 6711 now.

I seriously doubt the folks that run this forum actually develop the application behind it. It's not just point and click to add requested features unless they already exist. The only hope is if the administrator collects these requests and sends them off to the application developers. Maybe in about a year's time ten percent of them will show up. It's just the nature of the beast.

The forum software is written in house using ColdFusion. But it is still not point and click to add a feature.

Suggestions are recorded, discusses, and many are added to our wish list.

I stand corrected, thank you Tom. I assumed it was an OTS or open source code app, my bad.
