Does anyone know if there is a caravan scheduled to travel over the TOW on Sunday the 29th? We are planning to leave Dawson City that morning and someone mentioned that they heard there will be a "Fantasy" Tour leaving at the same time and we sure don't want to get behind one of those.
Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

They generally don't start lining up for the ferry until 8 or 8:30, so just be an early bird and on the ferry at 7.

I agree, if you get up & out you will not have trouble. Then you can stop for breakfast on the other side. That is what we do & will do later this summer.

Thanks for the suggestions. We checked with the Info Ctr today in Dawson, and they know of no caravans coming through tomorrow. nogo...where do you eat breakfast on the "other side"? we started to take the toad over the ferry today, but decided against it. We did go up the Dome road and what a view up there. You can see the TOW for miles and miles and didn't see any neon signs flashing "Eat at Joes". However, since we usually only have coffee and a large fruit smoothie for breakfast (most of the time), a breakfast would be nice.
We'll probably get out of here NLT 9am..... I know, I know....

Plan for a good days trip over Top of the World Hwy from Dawson. On the American side the road is gravel and the Canadian side is paved and gravel. Not bad roads but take it slow. I will never stop at Chicken again. I was not impressed at all.

The first cafe going from Dawson is at Boundary, 3 miles past the border. That's a long haul without coffee - much better to eat before you cross the river.

I'm thinkin' that you didn't stop at the Original Chicken Gold Camp then - spotlessly clean and great food, and the best deal on gold panning I've seen yet.

Wind River...
I was in Chicken 3 weeks ago and will return asap. The people were great, my friends wife lost her panties to the cannon at the bar( those of you who have been there for happy hour know about this tradition). Definately on the list of return places. One in our group had a mechanical problem and had to be towed to Dawson, nothing to do with the road and said it was worth it for the time he had in Chicken.
explorenorth... We stayed there also and recogmend it to anyone. Take a minute and get to know the people and you will never regret it.

Chicken is one of our favorite places in the world! I agree with the comment about probably not stoppiing at the Original Chicken RV park the one with the Dredge. Listen to the story of how they moved it--now that's an adventure. We are in Alaska now and plan to spend several days in Chicken and drive the TOW on way home.
We will have a wonderful dinner in the original downtown Chicken Mall, tour the dredge--again, mail cards from the post office and take some hikes, talk to the locals, do some fishing and enjoy life.
It will take at least an hour to mail the cards. If you haven't stopped at the Chicken Post Office you've really missed an great experience.
Chicken is one of the few places you can slow down and really enjoy the experience. Talk to people there, they are wonderful.

We tried to stay at the Chicken Gold camp but only dry camping was available and since we really needed to vacuum out the inside of the MH, we went over the hill to the other place by the creek. We did, however, walk back over to the Gold camp and had a nice sandwich and did a little shopping. Next morning, walked back over and did breakfast and got two free chickens!
We did the Dredge #4 tour in Dawson, so we passed on the one in Chicken. During breakfast, we meet four really nice older ladies who were traveling together in a mini-van. Quite unusual.
We liked Chicken and the people there were really friendly and helpful. Loved the free chickens.
