Do any of you grease the pin on your 5th wheel or any part of the hitch? I use a lube plate but when I turn or when backing into a camping spot there seems to be allot of squeeking and what sounds like hard turning pressure caused by metal on metal. I hope that makes sense!

Anyplace that metal rubs on metal should be lubed.

I use grease on the pin and clean the jaws and put white lithium on all working parts on the hitch. I also put white paint on the Jaws so I can see better if they are closed.

Now that's an idea that I'm going to use.

I painted my jaws also. Helps about seeing the jaws are shut. I use a spray grease on the moving parts of the hitch. I use the lube plate. I don't see any use of greasing the pin. I think not lubing the pin is not going to wear any thing out. Just create a mess.

A lube plate only affects downward force on those surfaces, it does not lubricate the 5th wheel pin. The pin must be lubricated just the same as any moving parts. The steering parts of your tow vehicle move and you lubricate them don't you? Same type action and forces are imposed on the ball joints and tie-rod ends.
For those that do not lubricate the pin, reconcile those facts please.

Anytime you have moving metal to metal contact you are going to have wear. Lubrication will reduce the wear.
I use a lube plate, chassis grease around the king pin, grease on the side to side swivel pin, and once a year pull the hitch head, turn it upside down and squirt all internal parts with 20 wt motor oil. After five years the hitch looks and works like a new one.
