My guess is you got too close to someone's meth lab or pot patch and they were warning you off.

If this is Northern California (where I grew up) I would guess this is exactly what happened. I heard some scary stories from friends growing up of what happened when they ended up down logging roads near pot patches. A few warning shots were not uncommon.

Wow, that is scary. I know I would have called the police and would have left too then again another side of me says to stay and crawl under the trailer with my rifle and nightscope and wait till they come up again...... Oh well, we did that when I was with the Uncle.....why not do it again and let the pot heads and meth guys know what we all fought for.... and did not lose but then against eh peoples republic of some state or other would take a dim view I am sure.

I would go back, park the rig and hide in the woods with a rifle.

Chris,

However any of us would act in this case is our own opinion. We each have our belief in how we would act. NO one knows what he would do UNTIL the day it happened to you.

If, in fact you went home, got your rifle, and went back and hid in the woods to see if there might be a "round two", so to speak, it would be you going to jail.

that would be called premeditated murder. best thing to do, after the fact, is report it to the local police, and let them handle it.

the only time you could have done anything is at the time he was fired on, is to return fire. ANY time after that, you would be in the wrong.

sad facts, but true.
