Well we have had to change a few things. Starting with the tow vehicle. It was getting way to cranky to trust it. We now have a truck more gas $$ than the Odyssey. We are still traveling. The first trip will be in about 2 weeks with our new to us truck. When the van had problems we could have thrown in the towel. But we chose to continue our traveling quest. We enjoy it far to much! High gas prices or not! We cut back in other areas to continue traveling.
Safe travels!

Yes we have changed some plans. But only for the daily drive, bought a car that gets 35 plus mpg, now use half the fuel a week we used with the tow vehicle which now sits in the driveway waiting to go camping.
I must say I love pumping a mere 10 gallons compared to the 25 the Astro took every week.
It works for us, the Astro was paid for long ago, which made it a no brainer of an option, especially with a place to park it where the city and neighbors are ok with. (yes the city has a patrol looking for vehicles/trailers parked in the front yard on the grass, GASP!! How dare anyone park on the grass in their own yard.)

We usually go to the UP (Upper Penninsula, MI) every year at about 1200 miles round trip including travel while camping. This year we are going half way and staying in the Lower Penninsula cutting the travel in half. The cost of a gallon might be closer to $4.50 by the time we leave.

It is a shame that some are making a killing on speculation while others have to make adjustments. And all the spin offs that rely on oil will naturally be going up. I agree that this was calculated to happen and fits right in with the the take over of the schools in the 60's. We are on the road to a decline in our standard of living that will fit right in with some lesser countries.

Lucky we have lots of great state parks close by to enjoy camping without breaking the bank.

Have a great time camping,

We're going to travel more than ever. Price of fuel is nothing compared to elsewhere in the world. You only get one go round at life!

Yep, it's limiting us. Don't know if that means we're stingy, cheap or thrifty or that we just WON'T spend the $$$. I can say though, that on our trip to AR 2 weeks ago, we were amazed at the number of RVs NOT on the road and also at the campgrounds we stayed at. We travel I-40 here in TN every day and the number is considerably reduced. Maybe those of us with less expensive units are able to keep going more than the big rigs. Although I would think that if you could afford $250,000 for a Class A, the gas wouldn't be a problem. Who knows.

Also have noticed that the truckers are keeping it about 62 mph as opposed to 75 or so before.

this year I'm not going to change my plans. Next year we are thinking getting PUP and small SUV to travel with and let the 27 footer stay on our seasonal site instead pulling it off to travel.

We are still going on our big trip, has been planned since Sept. The price is not going to stop me from my DD's dream to see the Princesses at Walt Disney World. My other DD is in her last year of High School, College soon. I want this season to be extra special. Come next season who knows but for now, not a chance.

I just spent $100 in gas to go to the lake 30 miles away in the mountains.

Yes we are camping much less - I would give the politically correct answer and say that no amount of money could keep me from doing what we enjoy, blah blah blah...but the fact is, that at 10 miles per gallon...we can't afford to camp every other weekend like we did a few years ago.

I would imagine that if things stay the same - a small pop-up will be in our future...

As much as we love camping, I can't justify spending my kids college savings on fuel.
