sorry, I just need to vent a minute.

I ordered my new Flagstaff 228D on 5/12, needless to say our whole family, especially 6 yo son and 4 yo son, are very excited. Then 3 weeks later we were told it was built and scheduled to be shipped out on 6/11, arriving 6/13. We made reservations for several weekends in June and the July 4th weekend.

Unfortunately it didn't arrive, our dealer called the factory and they basically said "sorry we forgot to put it on the truck." Next truck is leaving 6/25. Dealer offers to take $400 off price. So I'm annoyed, but not major (yet)

so yesterday we get another call, unit still not on truck!!!!!! Factory guy our dealer talked with 2 weeks ago is naturally on vacation, current guy has no idea what's going on or where trailer is. After several hours they determine they screwed up again, and trailer is still in factory. Actually factory says "corporate" screwed up. Now I'm really mad. especially as we were really looking forward to July 4th trip.

at this point they are going to "try" and get it on a truck Monday, so I might still have it in time, although I was hoping for a few more days to familiarize before our first big trip. I am very disappointed so far in Forest River, they seem to have veey little regard for the customer. at this point only our local dealer, who is blameless (although one could argue they should have called factory day before second truck was going out to make absolutely sure nothing was falling through the crevasses.) has offered us any compensation. in addition to the $400 off they'll give us a free rental for the Juy 4 weekend, which is nice but I want MY trailer.

anyway thanks for letting me vent. If you are ordering from Forest River you better call factory and make sure they are sending your trailer! The number is 574 642 2640.

If I don't get it next week they are getting a nice letter from me and perhaps my lawyer (although I'm not sure they can be liable for much more than my desposit.)

Wish me luck!

That's very un-responsible. It doesn't make sense that a company that you are giving business to is ignoring you like that. I'm sorry to hear it.

Good luck!

Phil, I'm so sorry to read about your misfortune. However, hang in there and it will get better.

I think everyone has been thru some type of frustrating "non" service. I totally agree that Forest River should be bending over backwards to get your unit delivered, especially in these current economic times. The only thing I can say is this time will be relatively short and you will barely remember it after enjoying your camper a few times.

Well hang in there. We had the same thing with our TT. Was supposed to be here in July. Got it Sept 9th. I turned into the squeaky wheel and they not only got it on the truck but we got an upgraded to the max and not the 2006 but a 2007 in its place. So It worked out in the end. Very frustrating when your waiting for your new toy! But it was worth the wait.
Good luck!

You just experiencing the beginning. Just wait until you have warranty repairs that require factory repair where they won't pick it up. Or they use 3rd party contractors for tarp repair and it comes back damaged. Then it's the blame game, with you left with in the middle, with a damaged tarp, and no one willing to repair it.

Reason why I traded my Forest River, extremely poor warranty service and even poorer customer service. That's in addition to a camper that as new and falling a part. IMO, there is much better.

Good luck, I'm hoping it works out for you, no one should have to go through this with a new RV purchase.

Uh..ummm ... Mr. Dealer, I seem to have forgotten to load my checkbook into my pocket so I can't deliver the check but I am sure you understand all about forgetting to load and deliver on time. Now about the $800* dollars you are going to take off the price, since this is now last years model, if that sounds about right I will "find" my checkbook even though you failed to live up to the sales contract and should return my deposit check.

(* dealer will probably settle for $600 off)
