We're planning a trip to Uwharrie National Forest for July 4th weekend because all the NC state parks are packed! Would the service roads be accessible to a 21' TT.
We camped near Buena Vista VA on a cul-d-sac dead end road. We loved it. Just don't want to find a dead end where I cant turn around.

I am from that area, you will be fine.
Me and the wife drove thru there Christmas just to

and the roads are accessible,

You will be fine on the forest service roads. Keep in mind though, they are maintained with bulldozers. They are not smooth nor paved. the best way to describe it is a washboard.

You won't have any trouble getting to one of the developed campgrounds but it sounds like you're looking for a dispersed site. If so, I'd recommend dropping the trailer and scouting ahead or at least checking with one of the rangers especially if we get any rain this week. You may already have this but just in case here's a link to the road and trail system http://www.cs.unca.edu/nfsnc/recreation/uwharrie/index.htm
Unless you're arriving Wednesday or Thursday at the latest I think you may have a problem finding a site (developed or dispersed) as Uwharrie is generally overflowing on a holiday weekend. We camped there last year over the 4th and I don't recall seeing any open spots. Give the office a call to get some idea of what your chances might be.
Have a save and enjoyable Fourth - Al

Yeah I was looking for dispersed camping. From what I remember about the roads in GWNF in VA, they looked okay for a small trailer. I dont remember height clearance though.
We can't leave until Friday, so we may not go. Man I wish we had the camping opportunities they have out west!!
