Does anyone have a screen door lock on the inside of the door? I have thought at times that it would be nice to leave the main door open at night and have just the screen door closed. The thought that there is no lock has kept me from doing this. Does anyone have a solution to this? Also is there any way to open thescreen door without having to move the slide closure?
Thanks a bunch, Evelyn

If you are concerned about security, the screen areas of the screen door only stop bugs, not bad guys. An overactive dog can easily get through screen; anyone with evil intentions won't be stopped by a lock, they'll just rip the screen.

On the other hand, we camp with tent ends (a hybrid) so clearly security is not a concern for us while camping. ;-)

Happy Camping!

I totally agree with campingliz, I don't think a lock a screen will do much for security.

Happy RVing

Campingliz, your wrong about ripping the screen, I just a little pocket knife and cut the screen, that way no body hears me. Only need a little bitty slit in it. JM2Cents. Locks are for the honest people to keep them honest. Good Luck and happy camping.

Well I wouldn't necessarily be concerned about security just want to be able to have a say as to who can open my door. I am only too aware of the fragile nature of a screen door. None of the MHs I have looked at have a lock on the screen door and I was just wondering this is standard or if a lock could be installed?

Hi! On both our class c and the previous tt I installed a simple slide bolt. Needed a drill and 4 suitable little nuts and bolts. I put it near the slide opening in the door so you could lock it from outside as well.
The idea wasn't for security (If I was that worried about security I probably would never leave home.) but for securing the door so the kids or cat couldn't get out. It also means nobody can easily walk in on you or let flies in when you were cooking.
It just hit me why I put it on the c. The awning rubbed on the door frame even with the little wheel. This way you had to think before opening the door and it
couldn't blow open on its own.

I also happened by Harbor Freight on day, and they were selling a little device that sticks to the window or door and a magnet. Can be set to off, alarm, chime. So at night or whenever I want to know when the screen door is opened I put it on chime or alarm. I think it was about 2 bucks. Gooderest Luck

We did this to our screen door so we can open it without sliding the slider back. You use a bicycle spoke. Drill a tiny hole in the flipper that opens the door and stick it down through. You can put a knob on the top to push it down and that opens the door. We also put a handle on the inside of the door so have something to grab when closing the door.

Standard Hook and Eye type lock.. You see.. We have kitties and one of them likes to roam.. The other likes to hide where it's safe.
