How 'bout just roll it up when it rains and re-deploy it after it stops? The main feature of the power awning is 'ease of use'. Push a button from inside a dry trailer and away it goes. I don't disagree that it should be adjustable, however.

I liked the power awning and didn't have a problem during a heavy rain. When I did the PDI, I was advised to keep the awning tight and not roll out all the way. I didn't have to tighten it that much to make a difference.
This will be a never ending debate with a lot of old schooled people. I will enjoy the push of button and I am done.

Because I want to keep all my chairs and stuff dry. It rains everyday in Florida in the summer. The awning sheds water just fine if you don't put it al the way out. And I ain't putting any holes in it either. You can see the valley by the tube in the pictures where he is showing you the holes.

I roll mine all the way out then back in several inches never a problem. If extended all the way it will allow bagging. Mine is not a flat pitch.

The dump feature works well on my A&E awning but I like the rest I dont care for it much. It came with the mh. I would much rather have the manual type.

Chad Brooks wrote: I for one really like the electric awning other than the water dumping issue. Mine too has had water puddle on it and I had to push it off. IMO, you can't beat hitting a switch and watching your porch roll out. With a manual awning you have to use both hands which requires you to put your beer down. I will try not rolling mine out all the way as suggested. If that works, I will be golden.
Currently waiting delivery on an '09 Prowler built to specs. Among those specs was my insistance that it be equipped with a manual awning. Didn't even give a thought to the fact I'd have to put my beer down first.............bummer!!! When will I learn?

So we're camping in NH and its been raining buckets all day. Our neighbors were nice enough to help dump our awning this AM. Found out the hard way that the weight of awning lights messes with the auto dump function! What we've done (and its still pouring!) was to crank the awning in about 3 inches so that the track for the awning lights is close to the underside of the awning. Then we took a ratchet-style tie down strap and hooked it to the upper frame (trailer side of the awning) and looped it around the awning spindle. A couple of ratchets later, we have a properly adjusted awning that has a little sag in it at one end and the water is running nicely. Just checked the radar and the cell that just went by was red's and orange's and the awning is not holding ANY water on top of it. Problem solved!
I'll post pics tomorrow one it's a little more camera friendly out in case anyone wants to visualize it better!

stugpanzer wrote: Our Rockwood came with a Dometic electric awning and I hate it! Same problem as others....with water pooling. When I had my Four Winds with the manula awning, I could adjust the one side downa bit to allow the water to drain off. When it rains with this new one, I have to roll it up.....a big waste! I wouldn't mind replacing it with one that can handle the water....I would even do a manual one!
I second that motion...I also dispise my electric awning on my 2009 Rockwood...wish I could have had the manual awning...I have found that if I keep it from going all the way out it helps -- but still get some pooling affect...

We have new rockwood and they will let us switch out the awning. We have had some very heavy rain and we don't leave it out if it is more than a sprinkle. We have a Permanant site wo we don't like everything getting wet.....but ...it is nice that a push of the button brings it in. We will try not rolling it out all the way but did FyrFytDay post pictures of what the did? Jenny See
