We should be traveling to Nova Scotia next year. Can anyone recommend a nice CG near Fredricton or about half way through NB. Close to the Transcanada would be nice.

Thank You.

We got back last Sunday from a 3 week trip to Nova Scotia. It appears from your question that you are planning to take I95 to cross the border at Houlton then pick up the TCH. You may want to consider picking up route 9 at Bangor and crossing at St. Stevens. Route 9 is a very good 2-lane and route 1 in New Brunswick is also a good road all the way to the TCH near Moncton. This route looks shorter on the map and opens the possibility to see some sights along the Bay of Fundy.

As far as a campground, we stayed 2 nights at the Century Farm Family campground in St. Martins. A really nice place right on the water of the Bay. WIFI worked too. Only downside was the pretty steep hills on route 111.

If you would like any more info on our impressions of Nova Scotia and the places we stayed, send me a PM.

One other thought - fill your gas tank before entering Canada.

CloudDriver's recommended route is a good one. If you decide to go that way, come back for some cg recommendations.

There is a nice Yogi bear Campground near Woodstock, where 95 meets the Trans Canada Highway. In Fredericton there is Hartt Island right on the Saint John River. Both are good.

You do not say when you plan to be in NB. Recommend you travel between the May 2-4 long weekend and Labour Day as the tourist information places are all closed during the other times. We were in NB last year prior to the middle of May and could not find a single tourist information office open. Even emailed the government and they were not concerned. Seems the welcome mat for visitors is only put out for the summmer travellers (late May to early September)

We are planning on traveling up to Antigonish for the highland games. I believe it is in july. I will be crossing at Either, St. Stephen or Calias. Last year we followed I95 through maine into NB. Even without pulling a TT, it was a long drive.

We're headed in that direction in mid-August. Are there any issues in crossing with a dog and cat aboard?
