How far east of Portland are you? Are you on 84? Passed Gresham? In the Dalles? There are a number of good routes depending on where you are now.

Either 84 out to 97 and down is good OR Hwy 26 to 97 and down are both good.

Thanks all,
I am located at Portland Fairview RV Park, right off 84. We were here last July and made res. for this year before I left. I really do not understand all these folks who have told me the weather up here is always lousy. It's 90 deg. outside just like last year.

I would hit 26 and follow it to Madras and then take 97 down to Bend. I always go up hwy 35 from Hood River and catch 26 to 97. I would think going up 84 to 197 or 97 would be a lot longer.

Are you near my Cedar Creek? Kids are living in it until their house closes. What kind of scenery are you interested in? Fastest way is Hwy26 to 97. There is a climb over Mt Hood, but it is only a few miles long and not that hard. If you want to experience the gorge, then take I84 east to Biggs Junction and pick up 97 South. Lots of choices. If you want some scenery, you can also take I84 east to Hood Rive, and climb through the Hood River valley and come out on 26 then over to Madras to 97.

The fastest way to Bend from your location is via US 26. Just be watchful between Sandy and Zigzag....this is a notoriously busy and dangerous road because of the sheer volume of side roads and driveways that are strung out along the highway.
