Seems a bit on the high side to me. Maybe in the 28K range at best IMO.

I'd say it's high. Remember, it's a buyer's market now.

NO, it's high. And with the truck being a gasser. I'd say a big no to the deal. However if you don't mind the the truck being gas. Offer $25k. JMHO

Look around, see what similar sized trailers are selling for in your area. Never buy the first rig you look at.

I just searched Kelly Bluebook for the price of the truck, came up with around $13,000 for private sale. I then checked NADA pricing for the Eagle and got about $14,000 for low retail, which should be close to wholesale for a clean unit. (Average retail is about $17,000.) Your seller should have a little wiggle room. I'd say he's pricing it like a dealer would. I think USAFBill is right on -- $28,000 should be more than fair if he needs to unload it. That doesn't mean someone won't offer him asking price tomorrow.

You can Google Kelly and NADA guides and get closer figures, as I didn't know what options to add or subtract from the truck or 5er.

LOTS of Trucks and LOTS of RVs out there right now due to the high prices of gas and the poor economic times. Offer a fair price and that's it. He is most likely upside down on one or both of the units and wants YOU to make up for his poor planning,

Agreed that this is not a great deal. You may really want to consider looking for a diesel. That 8.1 gasser will suck down fuel like there's no tomorrow.

The 8.1L Chevy is a great motor. And if you don't want a diesel, that is one of the best motors out there. And with 30K miles, even more interesting. This truck is a towing monster. Downside, you're looking at 7MPG towing that trailer. And poor milage not towing. Maybe in the 10-12 MPG range, depending on rear gear. Add about $1000 to 1300 for a used Superglide. Depending on hitch weight rating, and condition. Any rust, much lower.

The fact that it has 2WD in Wisconsin, might concern me. Not that you need it for towing on clear roads. But if you need to re-sell the truck at some point, selling a 2WD may be difficult. Certainly won't command the price of a 4WD in Wisconsin. If it is a regular cab, lowest value and convenience. So when you add it all up 8.1L, Low MPG, 2WD, in Wisconsin, that truck is tough to sell, these days. That is why he wants to sell it as a package with the trailer. Hoping the trailer will pull thru the truck sale with it.

Be sure to check the trailer out closely. Some dealer tech's may moonlight to do a trailer inspection, for a couple hundred in cash. A few dents and dings may be indications of less than careful living abuse in it. Remember, you're dealing with a private party. You are buying "AS IS". No warranty, of any kind. And you'll need to deal with a bank for financing. Usually higher rate than buying from a dealer. And maybe tougher credit approval, too.

And be sure the floor plan is not only acceptable, but very much to your liking, and lifestyle needs. If not, don't even talk price. Go find something you really want. And then buy the truck you really want, to pull it.

If the trailer meets your needs, don't be afraid to offer a real low offer. If you offer 26,000, expect him to meet you half way. But that would be about 28,500. Maybe try 23,000. He'll turn you down, but may call you back in a couple of weeks and settle for 25 or 26.

Let us know how you make out?
