I have learned over the years to put the following in car ads no matter where they are placed. "ask wife or girl friend BEFORE calling xxx-xxxx"
Sure cuts down on the tire kickers and BS specialists.

I've had excellent result using Craig's List. Everything sold for asking price.

I really don't much care for it, but I am thinking of cleaning out some of the junk in the garage and having a garage sale.
Craigs list is great as long as you are careful with what you purchase or how you sell something.. We have bought two things off of Craigs list and good bargins they were.

Some how you would have a hard time convincing my dh of that. He sold all of his wood working tools and equipment in a little over 3 weeks on Craig's list.
I sold my Lexus for my asking price to the first caller.
I certainly don't think I could have done better by donating my car or an entire wood working shop to the Goodwill..We tried one garage sale and vowed never again...
Now we don't have to think about it "ever again". We sold all our "stuff" and are traveling and living full time on the road for the last 5 months..

The worst is when your having a garage sale and the people steal your stuff........you're already giving stuff away at .10¢ on the dollar and then they have to steal it from you to boot!

Also, what is with the tax write-off when you DONATE something. When I DONATE something I expect nothing in return. Guess it has something to do with my parents and my heart.
So I'm somehow doing something wrong by taking a tax write-off for donating to charity? You've got to be kidding. You are free to not take your write-off, but I'll take mine.

I think people expect to dicker with you over price when you are selling something used. The obvious answer is to price it higher than what you will take for it and then reduce the price when they ask. It's exactly what car dealers do to us all the time and we always walk out thinking we got a great deal. Anybody ever pay sticker price for a motorhome?

I'm sure you didn't mean this to be mean-spirited. My parents taught me to be honest and my heart is fine with me taking a tax write-off. It's LEGAL.

I always do this when there is something I want to get a fair price on. If it is something I just want to get out of my hair I price low. You know what they say, "one mans trash is another mans treasure"

We had put the prices on the stuff using masking tape at a garage sale.
I sat there and watched one lady pulling the tape off one item and put it on another. The reason I noticed her was she was having a hard time getting the making tape off of her fingers while trying to get rid of the piece of masking tape with the higher price on it.
