Th only way they can be towed is on a trailer. Because of this my toad is a Ford Focus.
Is the Mustang rear wheel drive? If so, does Remco make a driveshaft disconnect for it? If so, that would make it towable on a dolly or four down. Or, you could remove the driveshaft from the rear differential yoke, tie it securely to the frame, and tow.
If the Mustang is front wheel drive, it should be dolly towable.

Y'all made me get out my '04 Mustang, owner's guide. I was incorrect.
For wrecker towing a flatbed is recommended.
For recreational towing (4 down):
* Put transmission in neutral
* Maximum speed is 35 MPH
* Maximun distance is 50 miles
* If speed or distance is exceeded you must disconnect the driveshaft
We just traded in a 2001 Mustang GT Convertible 5 speed that we towed for over six years. The Mustang was towed for at least 30,000 miles with no real problems. The only issue is the tires are only good for at most 30,000 actual miles and are not cheap. The car got lots of attention and was a great car to winter in Florida
I tow a 2001 GT 5 speed V8, no modifications. All the so called experts said I could not tow it so I call Tremec who built the transmission. They told me to tow it forever but not on a dolly, only 4 down so the oil would get to all the bearings in the trans. If you have a different year or brand of tranny, do your research, call the manufacturer that made it, it may not be Ford.
Do you know which manual transmission it will have?
The Mazda-designed wide-ratio M5OD used with most recent 4 and V6 Mustangs (and light trucks) will self-lubricate for a couple hundred miles before you need to splash oil around again.
There are other manual transmissions used in Mustangs, Ford does not recommend for towing (insufficient experience). They may still be towable, if you can determine who supplied the transmission, and get towing parameters from the transmission manufacturer (Warner, Tremec, whoever).
FWIW, manual transmission wear problems from towing may not show up until well into the life of the transmission, i.e. 50,000 or 100,000 miles. Unlike automatics, which may actually explode while towing.
