I'm picking up my new Fuzion 302 on Tuesday 7-1-08.
This is a new 08' model and has the Ultra CRT tires, I think by Carlisle? I've read all of the horror stories on Carlisle.
These tires are 235/80R16E. Keystone upgraded to the 16E tires and 6000lb axles mid year I believe. Would you guys take a chance since these are the upgraded 16e's or would you just cut to the chase and replace them right away? If replacing what should I get?
Thanks in advance.

If you replace them, in my opinion, the very best tire for you toy hauler are Michelin XPS ribbed tires. These have all steel belts. If one of your old tires goes bad your repair will be more than the extra cost of the Michelin's.

I have had a lot of history with fiver tires. I repaired damage to my wheel wells and fenders more than six times, but no more. When I purchased these Michelins a few years ago my tire problems went away.

I am a real believer in these Michelin xps ribbed tires for trailers and fivers.

without a doubt the all steel carcass XPS Rib tire is the best but is expensive. Many commercial haulers rotate them from their trucks to their trailers at around 50k miles. Other good LT tires that are used for heavy trailers is the Bridgestone Duravis R-250 which is another all steel carcass LT tire. Other fabric carcass LT tires with very good ratings from folks that use them on their trailers to make a living will be the Firestone Transforce H/T or Uniroyal Lerado HD-H or BFG Commercial LTs.

Where can you get the Michelin XPS ribs in the size 235/80/16E?
I can only find the 235/85/16E size. I don't see the 80's on the Michelin website.

You should be able to switch to a 235/85/16E tire with no problems. I would suggest that you call Michelin and ask them what is the diameter of their 235/85/16E tire. Then check that against the diameter of your present tires. With this information you can determine if the Michelins will give you clearance to run the slightly larger aspect ratio tire. I would think you would no problem at all.

Here is Michelins contact phone number:

235/85 Ribs will fit.
Plenty of us on here run them.
They are the best E rated tire out there.

Two of my Ultra CRT's blew on the way to Myrtle Beach in May. They had approx 800 miles on them!!! Not overloaded, inflated to 65 PSI the night before the trip, traveling at 65 MPH!! Replaced all four of them in Brunswick, GA with 10 Ply Maxxis M8008's and no further problems. Carlise tires are JUNK!!

CRT tires: We had three of the four go on our Rockwood 30 foot trailer, 2 years old, about 13,000 miles on them. The belts separated and wire showed through the rubber. We were very lucky not to have a blow-out on the Skyline Drive.
Specs: Radial Trail Ultra CRT st205/25R15C, Load C

Please note: we had not been rough with these tires, no apparent cause for the tire failures

I would have to agree with many on here on the Michelin Ribs unfortunately when it was time for me to upgrade they didn’t have 5 in stock so I got BF Goodrich Commercial Truck Tires, Load E and have been happy with them so far.
