You are looking at 2 good companies that both produce a very high quality product so you are in a great position to not go wrong with either choice. That said, I prefer the construction features of Doubletree. Frame, sidewalls, insulation, electrical panel, and many detail items. I have not toured Nuwa but I toured Doubletree in early 2005 and again last week and I can say that their assembly procedures were top notch then and have only improved with time. I have what is considered upper lever trailer by many but I want to throw stones at it after looking at the Select and Mobile Suites. Randy

Thanks Randy, interesting comments and indeed, more items to consider. We knew this wasn't going to be easy and that is turning out to be true. What is it about the electrical panel that you feel is better? We need to take a good look at this.

Thanks,
Susan

Doubletree is the only brand I have seen that has led indicator lights on the 12 volt panel that light up if a 12 volt fuse blows. Makes it real easy to find bad or blown fuse. Also like the way both 12 volt and 110 power panels are easy to access just inside the main entrance. I also like the way the AC is ducted along each side of the ceiling so you are cooler when in the slide-outs. Many just duct right down the middle and there is no circulation at the outer wall area and most couches and chairs are located in slide out areas. Return air is through ducts so you don't have AC unit inlet in ceiling where you hear the motor noise. Unit is still on roof but much quieter since its not directly open to ceiling. Many other detail items that I could go on about. Randy

I have a 35 LK RSB. I can get into the bathroom with all slides in. Love the trailer.

I'm biased! Now that that's out of the way, I believe both of the company's will perform some custom work for you and both will give excellent factory service should you require it. I, of course, must throw my kudos towards the Doubletree product as we are very happy with our 05 Mobile Suites. You may want to check very carefully about access to BOTH the bathroom AND the bedroom of the Select model you're looking at as I believe the slideout is extra width and covers the bathroom door completely. JMO, that would not be a deal breaker for me but, you should get what you want in a fiver floorplan when you're spending that kind of money. Good hunting.

I don't know why DT doesn't include their specs of weight and length anymore on their website. The brochure download doesn't even include them. We have a 2008 brochure that has the info on a separate sheet.

Model: 34RLSB3
Length: 35' 11"
Width: 101"
Height: 12' 8"
Dry Wt: 11,660 #
Dry Pin Wt: 2,775 #
GVWR: 17,000 #
Axle sz: 7,000 #
Holding tanks:
Fresh 70
Gray 50
Black 50
WH capc. 12
Furnace sz: 42,000 BTU
Insulation: Floor: R27, Roof R23, Walls R13

If they have any new specs sheets for 2009, will be picking one up next week in Indiana.

Something I don't understand, you are comparing the most expensive "luxury" model of Hitchhiker to the cheapest "economy" model Doubletree trailer. Having previously owned a Hitchhiker and now a Mobile Suites, I find what you are doing is comparing a Cadillac to a Ford Pinto!

When I toured the DOubletree factory I got some good looks at the Select Suites and would be more apt to compare them to the Hitchhiker II series trailers rather than the Champagne.

Just something I noticed.

Thanks Hitchup for the specs, I really do appreciate you posting those, and yes,TexatDurango, you are correct about the Select Suites being the entry level model and the CKRSB being in the Champagne line. I know different finishes are used, but I would hope when you compare two high end manufacturers that the quality workmanship would be there no matter what level you were considering. The two floorplans are the ones that best suit our needs, unfortunately, Mobile Suites doesn't make the 34 in anything but the Select Suites, nor does HH make the CKRSB in any other line, hence the comparison. We do intend to visit both factories, and compare standards and options, in fact I have already begun that process. I would love it if both these manufacturers made these floorplans in their mid range lines, but they do not. Thanks for the observation and your thoughts.

Susan: DT does have a 32TK3 that is under 34' on the Mobile line. You just don't have the Side Bath. We went from an enclosed bath in our Open Road to the open Suite bath version and find we like DT's better.

Specs:

Length: 33'8"
Dry wt: 11,500 #
Dry pin: 2400 #
GVWR: 17,500 #
GVWR: 18,500 #
w/Magnum Suspension & 17.5 H tires
